In a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram Stories last night, May 17, Kathryn told her fans and followers that while she’s been advised against speaking out, she simply can’t keep her mouth shut anymore and is sick and tired of her name being dragged through the mud.
“I’ve been quiet since all this started and told not to post anything but I can’t stand it anymore,” Kathryn began.
“Y’all have to know that this whole thing has been blown out of context. I’m freakin heartbroken and SO depressed because the way I’m being portrayed is totally not true!!! I use that emoji all the time [because] it looks silly and awkward and that’s my baseline.”
Screenshots of Kathryn arguing with a woman by sharing a monkey emoji were leaked online last week.
According to Kathryn, she didn’t know what the person she was messaging looked like.
“The account was anonymous I didn’t even know who I was messaging???? And now I’ve been labeled all this crazy stuff and it’s just not true. And it’s not fair. And I see now that I’m back on IG that some*** people are thrilled to use this [situation] to come up on their own. Use for their own benefit. But I’m not gonna let that happen. Never have never will,” Kathryn continued.
In addition to the racism scandal, Kathryn is also being accused of starting a rumor claiming her “Southern Charm” co-star Cameran Eubanks‘ husband, Jason Wimberly, was cheating on her. However, as has since been revealed, Jason is not cheating on Cameran and the woman who was deemed as his mistress has spoken out against Kathryn for supposedly starting the false rumor.
As fans may have heard, Cameran announced she was quitting her role on “Southern Charm” last week just before the rumor was shared.
At the end of her Instagram Stories statement, Kathryn told her audience she would eventually be making a full statement to press in regard to the racism scandal she’s currently facing.
“I’m making a full statement tomorrow but I had to respond [because] I cannot stand my character being annihilated,” she explained. “Please just be patient and known this sh*t is just not true.”
“Southern Charm” season seven is expected to air on Bravo sometime later this year but a premiere date has not yet been set.
