According to at least one royal expert, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might have had an exit plan for their departure from the royal family from the start of their relationship.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl weighed in on the issue, pointing to “the speed” at which the duke and duchess of Sussex made their exit from the royal family as proof that there was already a plan in place, according to a report in the Australian site, 9 Honey.

“The speed at which the Sussexes have turned their lives around has surprised everybody. I don’t think it’s a huge surprise they moved overseas, that was inevitable, she said, adding “I think the speed at which it’s happened has surprised people.”

The royal expert went on to say that from the beginning the pair showed signs that they wouldn’t act like other royals and that they might have different aspirations.

“They had an agenda from the outset — to be international royals,” Nicholl shared, adding, “They didn’t want to just be stuck in one place.”

“Part of their vision is to be making a difference on the world stage and that entails being international,” Nicholl explained. “I was told from a very early stage in their courtship, they had told a friend of Harry’s that Meghan met quite early on that they wanted to be international roving royals and that was going to be their focus.”

Prince Harry and Markle surprised many when they decided to leave the royal family and move back to Markle’s home state of California.

Princess Diana’s former butler said in a recent interview that he believes that one of the things that have drawn Prince Harry to Meghan Markle are her similarties to his late mother.

According to The Stir Paul Burrell worked for Princess Diana for 10 years, and wrote a book on the subject, in addition to weighing in on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex marriage.

"Harry went for and married Meghan because she's like Diana," he said, via PerthNow. "Both women who would always stand up for what they believe in and wouldn't be pushovers."

Burrell Said It’s Possible The Women Would Have Disagreed

"I think, possibly, they would have clashed," Burrell added. "I imagine it would have been two strong, independent women with different views on things -- it would have been a battle between Meghan's way and Diana's way."

"I think the main difference between them is that Meghan has a game plan, whereas Diana was young and naive. Diana did the book with Andrew Morton and courted the press over the years because she didn't have a voice. And her strong-mindedness meant she cared and she felt the people of the country had a right to know what had gone on behind closed doors."
