In the most recent season of “Sister Wives”, viewers felt that the family was making irresponsible financial decisions. In fact, finances came up a lot as the family moved from place to place.
Kody Brown seems to be on the verge of financial ruin according to some of the statements he has made on the TLC reality show. On the other hand, first wife Meri Brown seems to be living it up. Is she making enough money from her multi-level marketing scheme and her bed and breakfast to bankroll the rest of the cast?
While Meri and Lularoe, the company she is a salesperson for, have not released exactly how much money Meri makes, it is clear she is pulling in a decent chunk. In fact, there is speculation that Meri is making at least $100,000 each year.
This information is partially based on the fact that Meri has qualified to take cruises through the company several years in a row. In order to qualify for this cruise, salespeople must sell at least $12,000 worth of merchandise for at least four months in a row. Plus, Meri likely has many salespeople working under her, which is the real way people make money in an MLM.
While it looks like Lularoe may net Meri a significant chunk of change, she also owns a bed and breakfast in Utah. She seemingly has rooms booked all the time, and reviews of the property are largely positive.
All of this coincides with the Brown family struggling with finances. In fact, they openly discuss how much of a financial struggle they are experiencing all the while buying properties and homes in Flagstaff, Arizona. Even to audiences, they reveal that they are struggling to keep their heads above water.
This has led to a lot of speculation that Meri is running the show with her finances, and that’s why she’s still part of the family.
In one of Meri’s live events, Kody popped in and asked Meri to sign some papers. Some speculated that the papers were related to a loan that she was co-signing. Is Meri the family’s most valuable resource? A lot of people who follow the family believe that Meri is financially backing everybody in the family.
This discussion also coincides with rumors that Meri is going to leave the family. She doesn’t seem to spend much time with the other wives, and Kody has been open about the fact that he doesn’t spend a lot of time with Meri anymore.
Is Kody in the marriage for the funds that Meri brings in? Janelle doesn’t seem to be selling many houses, and Robyn’s business, My Sister Wife’s Closet, has seemingly shut down for good. Meri might be the only Brown parent bringing in money right now.
