Being a bodyguard to the stars can be an interesting job Steve Stanulis has been doing it for quite some time now and has protected some of the best and brightest. However, he knows exactly who he never wants to work with again. Stanulis recently revealed that rapper Kanye West, 42 was his “least favorite” client. During an appearance on the “Hollywood Raw” podcast, Stanulis shared some of West’s weird requests and what makes him the worst client he has had in his long career.
Stanulis shared that West had a number of “ridiculous rules” he has to follow while working for the “Yeezus” rapper. “He wanted you to stay 10 paces behind him on a city street,” shared Stanulis but does anyone else see the problem here? How is he supposed to protect West if he has to stay so far behind him? Stanulis echoed that sentiment. “So obviously, if someone is going to come up and do something, by the time I run up and try to prevent it, it would have already happened.”
That wasn’t all the bodyguard had to sat about West, he also shared that the rapper even ranted at him on his first day at the job. “I was supposed to meet him at the studio. When he gets there, we get into the elevator and he’s like, ‘Aren’t you going to push what floor we’re going to?’ “I said, ‘I have no idea, it’s my first day.’ So he starts ranting: ‘So you mean you didn’t call ahead to find out where I’m supposed to be going?’ I said no, so he’s ranting and raving.” Really? On his first day Kanye?
The first interaction gets even more awkward as Stanulis was not going to be talked down to by West or anyone in his crew. His response put the rapper in his place as he gave him three options to choose from. “One, you could tell me what button to press, and now I’ll know. Two, you could press the button, and I’ll see which one you press and then I’ll know, or three, you can sit in here all day and tell me how important your time is and we are not going to go anywhere. And again, that was our first interaction.”
Stanulis is a former New York City police so you know he has had to deal with people who had the potential to get way out of control yet, he still names West as the worst client he has had. In the past he has worked for Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Alanis Morrissette, Woody Harrelson and Tobey Maguire. However, West is the client that he always refers to when he talk about bad experiences. He shared that he had give West “the one, two, threes” on several occasions and endure quite a lot of intense conversations during his time bodyguarding the unconventional rapper.
