Like most mothers, “Teen Mom” alum Farrah Abraham shared how she celebrated her special Mother’s Day. However, unlike other mothers, she has managed to tick a bunch of women off by referring to herself as “widow”. Fans of “Teen Mom” know that Abraham’s daughter Sophia lost her father Derek Underwood to a horrific car accident before she was born. The reality star spoke on the situation in her episode of “16 And Pregnant” and later elaborated more on “Teen Mom”.
Every year she tries to celebrate Underwood on the important days like his birthday and Father’s Day. She even takes Sophia to visit his grave. This Mother’s Day, Abraham shared a special message to Underwood thanking him for giving her the greatest thing in life, her daughter. “With all the emotion, love & strength at this time, never forgetting the tragic accident but also just as hard are Happy Birthday days-for my best friend, for my soul mate, my love of my life & Sophia’s father today marks your 30th birthday.”
The message was accompanied by special video from Abraham explaining how much they miss him she speaks a bit about her past with Underwood and a few mother/daughter moments with Sophia. She admits it has not been easy. “As I’ve not been sleeping, crying, and remembering all of my therapy, trauma therapy I will say because of Mother’s Day here I wish no other woman to be a widow, a woman who has to hold it all together even when the world is against her.” Now, hold up a minute, a “widow”? that’s an odd word to describe yourself.
The word widow is used to describe a MARRIED person who has lost their significant other. Last time fans checked, Abraham and Underwood were never married and not even engaged. In fact, it was a highschool romance that could have gone left. Whose to say that she wouldn’t have the problems that her co-stars Macy Bookout and Kailyn Lowry dealt with regarding their highschool sweethearts. Abraham’s message went on to get more emotional as she talked about the “special moments” that make them miss “Daddy Derek”.
Her post ends on a sweet note “In loving memory & Happy Mother’s Day to all the strong widowed and single moms, mercy, grace & abundance. Thanks to our child -sophia being so understanding and loving. We’re hard enough on our selves and I’m blessed to have my daughter, my constant, my wisdom ❤️?? FA . . .” Unfortunately, her followers felt that she was being phoney and disrespectful with one follower calling her out on all this love she claimed to have for Underwood.
“Girl please. You hated Derek. You guys weren’t even together. Who are you trying to kid? Stop using his death for attention. Gets old!” shared one follower while another reminded her the definition of what a true widow is. “You have to be married to be a widow. You are not a widow.” Abraham’s tone-deaf post sparked outrage but then again, most things that she does intentionally or by accident gets under people’s skin. It’s just another day in the Abraham house.
