Somehow, these not-so newlyweds are still in their honeymoon phase.
Justin Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber are making the most of their Canadian quarantine – and it doesn’t hurt that their house has a lake. The happy couple premiered “The Biebers on Watch”” via Facebook on Monday, a digital series set to run 12 episodes. A hot topic of the ten minutes was their 2016 split (of which little has been said about until now).
In hindsight, Hailey admits the breakup was probably the “best thing” that could’ve happened to then.
~~”I needed to lose you to love me.”~~
“I think that one thing that’s really important is that from the time you and I ended and were not on good terms, I was on my own essentially,” the model said. “I didn’t just throw myself into a relationship, throw myself into something else to try to…distract myself and forget.”
Hailey also pointed out that she “didn’t search for somebody to take [his] place and take another relationship or fill a void in that way.”
“I really let myself feel the emotions I was feeling. It feels like grieving, it is grieving, actually. You feel like you lose someone you really, really love and care about.”
“I just remember I cared about you so much that I was like, ‘It doesn’t even matter to me if he’s in my life, in like, a romantic way. I just care about him so much that I want us to be in each other’s lives and that be OK.’”
The time apart from her would-be husband also allowed Hailey to really find her path in the fashion world. As she put it, “I felt like I found my footing in my career and on my own and as a young adult.”
That chapter was officially closed in March 2018, and Hailey and Justin were married just four months later in a New York courthouse. But not everything’s been as glamorous as it seems – Hailey said they’ve “had to work hard on [their] relationship,” but it “pays off in a way where you just become so connected to each other, and so close and just solid with each other.”
Mrs. Bieber said “the companionship that you get out of it” makes everything worth it.
“Obviously, you’re my best friend,” she addressed her husband. “I think that’s the biggest payoff, you get a best friend to do everything with.”
Though we’ll probably never know what really happened, the “Yummy” singer has always alluded to things being mostly his fault – but this time, he didn’t let Hailey off the hook!
“There was a lot of forgiveness that you needed to have towards me, and vice versa,” Justin said. “We both had made mistakes and I think when we understand how much God’s forgiven us and given us grace, it gives us the ability to give each other grace.”
Wifey Hailey agreed that forgiveness should be “the biggest thing” they focus on – because in marriage, “you take a person with all of their mistakes, all of their faults, [and] all of their decisions.”
