The Duggar family has not been able to avoid drama in the midst of coronavirus.
For a long time, Derick Dillard teased writing a tell-all book about the Duggar brood. For the most part, Derick has fired shots at Jim Bob Duggar, the family patriarch. Dillard is married to Jim Bob’s daughter, Jill.
Now that Dillard appears to be actually writing and releasing that book, the story goes that Jim Bob is getting scared. He is apparently ready to sue Jill’s family to keep things quiet.
Much of the question about Jim Bob suing Dillard involves the potential signing of an NDA, or nondisclosure agreement. In 2020, Jim Bob’s niece, Amy King, allegedly revealed that she is not legally allowed to speak about the Duggar family because of a non-disclosure agreement she signed.
Apparently, Derick did not sign such an agreement. He has willingly spoken about the Duggar family in the past, including the fact that neither he nor his wife were ever paid to appear on 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On.
I want to clear up a question that I have received about Amy Duggar King and Derick Dillard. Derick Dillard says he did not sign a NDA nor did he have a contract with the network. Amy Duggar King signed a NDA & is prohibited from talking about the Duggars in ANY capacity.

Derick has been open about writing a book about his experiences as well as the experiences of his wife growing up in the Duggar home. It has not been clear what Derick plans to write about specifically, but he has discussed the controlling nature of patriarch Jim Bob online and interviews. He has also addressed the fact that he feels the family has issues with boundaries.
Now, it seems as if Jim Bob will stop at nothing to ensure that a book about his family is not released.
Other sources have spoken out about the family. According to one source that was once close to the Duggar family, Derick has a lot of information about the family, particularly Jim Bob. They have also said that Jim Bob has a team of strong lawyers who are prepared to stop any book or major interview from being published. Allegedly, these lawyers are looking over contracts with TLC to see if they can keep Derick from talking.
At this time there are no legal proceedings in place.
The Duggars are still dealing with the fallout of rumors that they were being investigated at the end of 2019. Their property was allegedly raided by the Department of Homeland Security. An investigation into the family was allegedly ongoing, but no additional evidence of an investigation or any criminal activity has emerged at this time.
The rumors about an investigation have yet to be confirmed by the Duggars themselves, and many hope that Derick will reveal what is happening behind the scenes.
