Ellen DeGeneres and *Portia de Rossi are a hot topic for the tabloids. Oftentimes it’s their relationship, and things are being falsely reported. In this case, this is true.
Despite DeGeneres and de Rossi sharing clips of one another during quarantine, tabloids such as NW are publishing reports that de Rossi has moved into a home separate from Ellen, because “they’re having problems”, according to an alleged source.
The two began to date in 2004 and wed in 2008, so while problems wouldn’t be unheard of or unhealthy after such a long time together, the idea that someone would claim the couple separated in the middle of a pandemic, when there’s livestream and video footage of them together, is outrageous.
The source claimed that they were fighting because Ellen wanted to keep hosting her talk show during quarantine, and Gossip Cop has since confirmed the report was not true, and noted it was a recycled article that had been written on InTouch Weekly.
The source that spoke to NW, allegedly claimed: “Portia wants her to retire but Ellen refuses to, Ellen tries to appease her by giving her whatever she wants,” and made sure to note that buying de Rossi’s happiness would only work for “so long”. The source also claimed that “some time apart will do them good”. Since this report went live, however, de Rossi and DeGeneres have shared videos of themselves together.
Gossip Cop has been debunking stories like this about the couple for years. The most recent was in May 2019, when a claim went out that DeGeneres used “facial fillers” because she wanted to look younger. We think Ellen looks pretty good for 62!
The couple bought a home for $3.6 million in Jan., and they are looking to sell it, according to Architectural Digest. The worth of the home doubled after the couple upgraded and updated a lot of it. They also own two other properties in the area, one property cost them $27 million and another cost them $1.9 million, and the two properties are side-by-side.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show](https://popculture.com/category/ellen-degeneres/) continues despite quarantine, and Ellen has begun to make and sell facemasks to raise money for the food fund, specifically America’s Food Fund during this crisis.
Recently Ellen DeGeneres made a joke that upset some of her fans, stating: “Being in quarantine is like being in jail, mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for ten days and everyone here is gay,” it was part of a segment on her show where she was sharing her feelings about quarantine.
Fans slammed her for the comparison of her lifestyle, which is quite lush and luxurious, to prison. Quarantine does feel like jail, but actually comparing the two in public makes it a terrible statement. After all, we’re quarantined at home while prisoners are at high risk due to the prison confinement they live in.
It does not help that people are certainly dying from COVID-19 while in jail, so making the joke was tasteless.
We must also remember that a lot of Americans are working from home now, and a good majority of them are loving that. To hear that Ellen does not enjoy being at home all the time is just… disheartening, and might bolster the unrest of those people who do not enjoy being at home.
Various people pointed out that Ellen has the privilege to be at home, bored and tired of being there while other people, people who work in fast food, grocery, healthcare, and so on are constantly putting themselves at risk so that the world can continue to function.
