Anderson Cooper made a long and heart-touching announcement about his son's birth on CNN the past week. And he could not stop his voice from wavering a bit, or that smile peeking out like the sun shining from the clouds (video below). Celebrities and fans reacted alike on Instagram, wishing the father and son all the love in the world. Kelly Ripa wrote, "Our hearts are filled with @instasuelos and i and the kids patiently wait for the day that we can meet beautiful Wyatt in person. One of Anderson Cooper's besties, Andy Cohen also welcomed his little bundle of joy via surrogacy last year and wrote some lovely words to Cooper and Wyatt on Instagram, "New life, new hope! Wyatt Cooper, you couldn’t have come at a better time! I know a friend who can’t wait to meet you!" Cooper named his little boy after his father, who had passed away when Cooper was only ten years old and wished, "I hope I can be as good a dad as he was."

Alyssa Milano wrote on Anderson Cooper's Instagram, "Now the fun really begins. Congratulations. I'm so thrilled for you." Meanwhile Cooper took to CNN to thank the medical team and his surrogate who gave him a chance to be a father. Said Cooper, "I am grateful to a remarkable surrogate who carried Wyatt, and watched over him lovingly, and tenderly, and gave birth to him. It is an extraordinary blessing - what she, and all surrogates give to families who can't have children."

He Took This Opportunity To Remember His Family And A Childhood Dream

Anderson spoke about his family, remembering them in his happy times, saying, "I do wish my mom and dad and my brother, Carter, were alive to meet Wyatt, but I like to believe they can see him. I imagine them all together, arms around each other, smiling and laughing, happy to know that their love is alive in me and in Wyatt and that our family continues." Most of all, Cooper said how having a child made an impossible childhood wish of his come true: of a gay man being a father.
