The "Dawson's Creek" star continued the lengthy post revealing that he and Kimberly found out about their son's pregnancy "after experiencing late-term #pregnancyloss twice in a row." As a result, they decided to keep quiet about it.

The actor admitted he was terrified when he found out Kimberly was pregnant but luckily found a doctor who helped diagnose the last two miscarriages as "incompetent cervix."

James made a side joke about "incompetent cervix" being misogynistic and recalled that he and the doctor laughed about it.

The Heartbreaking 'DWTS' Miscarriage

For most of 2021, the Van Der Beeks had a low-key year, spending most of their time away from the spotlight. However, in 2019 and 2020, they mainly were front and forward, with James participating in "DWTS."

The 44-year-old was a contestant on season 28, but his time on the dancing competition was cut short after he and his partner Ally Brooke were eliminated.

Unfortunately, the news of his elimination came at the same time that Kimberly suffered her first miscarriage. At the time, he was consoled by judge Carrie Ann Inaba who praised him for being resilient amid his tragedy.
