This past March, Niall Horan was promoting his second solo album, ‘Heartbreak Weather’ and reminiscing his One Direction fandom with the bubbly talk show host James Corden.
During his interview with Corden, Horan responded positively to the possibility of One Direction reuniting even without Zayn Malik, whose abandonment of the group lead to their eventual demise. With that interview, along with fellow words from the One Direction favorite Harry Styles, rumors of a ten-year reunion began to fly about the loyal 1D fandom.
The fandom continued their revival when fellow group member Liam Payne began teasing a reunion meeting in honor of the band’s 10-year anniversary. Payne, who has been laying low since his 2017 single ‘Strip That Down,’ didn’t reveal details but certainly made it seem like a project was already in the works.
‘Since most of us are in London, we’ve been trying to arrange the first group FaceTime with the boys at the moment,’ Payne said during an Instagram live with collaborator Alesso.

‘But yeah, I can’t say too much. Louis told me off for revealing a bit of our plans the other day, so you’re going to have the group chat telling me off,’ the One Direction singer continued.
Judging by the response from Niall Horan, Payne may have jumped the gun again. In a completely unrelated Instagram live session, Horan discussed the idea of the reunion and denied that any plans were made and suggested that his bandmate’s words were exaggerated by fans.
‘I get asked this quite a lot Claude, so I’ve got a good answer coming here. No — there’s a lot of talk about it at the moment, ’cause the 10 year anniversary of the band getting together is this year. … But yeah, there’s been a lot of talk about it but there’s no reunion as such. We’ve just been talking a bit more recently, ‘ Horan said while featured on the Instagram Live of professional golfer Claude Harmon III.

Fans are not convinced by Horan and are pointing out the fact that he, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Harry Styles all re-followed Zayn Malik on Twitter.
Other fans seem to be just fine without a One Direction tour and how their individual careers have panned out. One Twitter fan pointed out the obvious, ‘Good we don’t need it Harry and Zayn are better solo. Niall is cute solo as well!’
‘I knew it was Liam wanting the attention as his career has flopped,’ another fan said.
