Media reports in Australia claim they happen to be the only market in the world that did not get an exclusive sit down with Adele, who is promoting her new album 30. We are pretty sure that the “Hello” singer didn’t sit down with a media representative from every country in the world. That being said, the Aussie market is certainly a significant English-speaking market.
As it turns out they did have a media rep sit down with Adele, but the problem is, Adele’s record label Sony has banned the footage of the interview from being shown. This after Adele reportedly left the interview very angry after Australian TV host Matt Doran admitted he had not listened to her album. Now, Doran is on an apology tour trying to convince Sony to let him use the footage.
Why Adele Reportedly Stormed Out Of The Interview
In simple terms what reportedly went down was that Adele point-blank asked Doran his opinion on the album. The TV show host admitted that he had not listened to the album. What is mind-boggling about the entire ordeal is that Seven Network in Australia literally flew Doran 10,000 miles to London just to interview Adele. The least amount of time that you can take to make that trip is about 24 hours flat. Doran still couldn’t find enough time to listen to the album!
The Excuse For Not Listening To The Adele Album
A very apologetic Doran gave his reasons as to why he hadn’t listened to the album when he sat down to interview Adele. According to the Australian, he was not made aware of the fact that he had been emailed a preview of the album. He’s even calling this particular oversight the biggest email that he’s missed in his entire career. Still, the question remains, what in the world was he doing sitting on a plane for more than 24 hours? He could’ve checked his emails in the time between connecting flights. In any case, Doran’s “excuse” goes as follows, he mentioned,
“I have since discovered it was sent to me as an ‘e card’ link, which I somehow missed upon landing in London.” he would go on to say,“It was an oversight but NOT a deliberate snub. This is the most important email I have ever missed,”
Matt Doran also detailed that he was not aware that he was sent the album when he sat down with the singer. The interview reportedly took place before the worldwide release of the album, so he couldn’t just Google it. However, you’d think if you’re being sent over 10,000 miles just for a single purpose you’d be extra careful.
According To Doran, Adele Didn’t Necessarily Storm Out & There Is An Interview
Seven Network in Australia has issued a public apology to the “Rolling in the Deep” singer. They also mentioned that Doran has been suspended from his regular job as host of the show, “Weekend Sunrise”. He’s pushing though to have the interview released. Saying that Sony has banned the footage. Insisting that in fact, Adele didn’t storm out. She actually spent more time talking to him because of the incident. Although he potentially doesn’t come out looking all too well in the footage having it released could help him keep his job.
