Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark opened up about Kristen Doute‘s new boyfriend, Alex Menache, during an interview with Us Weekly magazine on April 27.
Amid their ongoing feud with Doute, who they suffered a falling out with last summer during production on Vanderpump Rules season eight, Schroeder and Doute made it clear that they approve of Doute’s new romance.
“I like him,” Clark, who got engaged to Schroeder last July, confirmed to the magazine of Menache. “He’s a great guy. Really nice guy.”
“He’s really nice, actually. He’s so normal. [He’s] good for Kristen,” Schroeder said.
Although Clark and Schroeder have only met Menache a few times, Clark told the magazine he hopes their relationship works out because he believes they are “good together.”
Clark and Schroeder first met Doute’s new boyfriend in January but at the time, he wasn’t introduced as someone Schroeder’s former best friend was seeing and her ex-boyfriend, Brian Carter, was also in attendance, which was “confusing” to the two of them.
“I think that she just needs someone who’s a good influence on her to treat her well and calm her down,” Schroeder continued.
“He was kind of like an emotional leech — and that can set people off and make him go manic,” Clark added.
According to Schroeder, she and Doute became tense after Doute began trash-talking her ex-boyfriend to her while encouraging her to also be nice. As she explained, Doute would say horrible things about Carter and when Schroeder would have a reaction to those things, she would get upset.
“Then on-camera, [she would] just make it sound like I’m a fking dk for bringing it up,” Schroeder explained. “Our job is to be real is to be honest. This is not fair.”
Last week, as Us Weekly magazine revealed, Schroeder opened up about her drama with Doute on her podcast, Straight Up with Stassi, telling her listeners that the end of her friendship with Doute happened because she was “mad that [Doute was] making [her] look like [a] bad [friend].”
Following her split from Carter months ago, Doute had nothing but good things to say about her ex.
“He’s always going to be one of my best friends in my mind,” Doute told Us Weekly magazine earlier this year. “I love him, I care about him, we have dogs together. But we tried to make it work and it’s not working so it needs to be done.”
