Taylor Swift Fans Celebrate AMA Wins: ‘Modern Patron Of Productivity’

Singer Taylor Swift is sweeping up awards yet again!
The 2021 Americans Music Awards were hosted by Cardi B on Sunday, November 21. Fans saw the "All Too Well" singer win the award for Favorite Female Pop Artist, and her 2020 album “evermore” won for Favorite Pop Album, despite it not truly being a pop album.
“Evermore,” the sister album of “folklore,” is Swift’s ninth studio album, released on December 11, 2020, only five months after “folklore” made its debut. The album is a mix of alternative rock, folk-pop, and chamber pop, but it lacks the mainstream pop sound that most expected to hear from the AMA winner.
Many thought that the win would actually go to Olivia Rodrigo’s album, “SOUR.” Although Rodrigo did pick up the win for Best New Artist of the Year, both singers lost out to BTS, who picked up the win for the coveted Artist of the Year.
Although Swifties applauded the win, a few couldn’t help but wonder how “evermore” could have won.

Swift thanked her fans for her “evermore” win through a pre-recorded video that was broadcast during the AMAs.
"Thank you so much to the fans, this is such an amazing honor,” she said. “The fact that you would do this for ‘evermore,’ I've always been so proud of this album. I've always looked at ‘evermore’ as sort of Folklore's adventurous, fun younger sister. So, thank you so much for doing this.”
She added, “Also, I just wanted to say to the fans, thank you for all the amazing support that you have thrown my way with ‘Red (my version),’ been so much fun. I'm so lucky to be in your life and to get to have you in mine. Have a great night. Love you guys.”
“The funny part is that Evermore is not even a pop album,” one fan noted.
Another tweeted, “YAY IM SO HAPPY!!!! Evermore deserved!!!! And evermore winning the pop album even though it’s an indie album?!?! BEST THING EVER.”
“so.. can we have evermore long pond studio session to celebrate?” another fan asked. “just saying.”

While “Bad Habits” singer Ed Sheeran picked up the award for Best Male Artist, Swift was honored with being the Favorite Female Pop Artist of 2021. Although some fans also thought this win would go to Rodrigo, Swift winning another pop artist award might not be as surprising as most people think. Although “evermore” and “folklore” were not what most people would call a pop album, they did launch Swift to the top of the charts.
According to a tweet by Billboard, “@taylorswift13 has earned four No. 1 albums on the #Billboard200 in just under 16 months (or, 68 weeks). That’s the fastest that a solo artist has ever accumulated four No. 1s since the #Billboard200 began regularly publishing on a weekly basis in March 1956.”
“thinking about how taylor swift has released 110 songs since 2019. she’s insane,” one fan wrote.
“SHE SHOULDVE WON ARTIST OF THE YEAR TOO,” another fan exclaimed.
“18 in lover, 17 in folklore deluxe, 17 in evermore deluxe, 26 in fearless tv, 30 in red tv, renegade, and wildest dreams tv + the remix versions of her songs. taylor swift, modern patron of productivity,” another shared.
With “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” now released, fans are looking to the future and wondering what new surprises Swift has in store for them in 2022.
