Halle Berry straight-up admitted that her MMA-trained muscles had been left “popping” as a result of her grueling workout today. The 53-year-old Oscar winner who completed three years’ worth of martial arts training in six months for “John: Wick Parabellum” featured both on her Instagram stories and on the Women’s Health Mag account on Friday – the actress was outlining the insane sweat sessions she’s been undergoing for her upcoming MMA “Bruised” movie.
“Let me tell you, it took serious dedication,” Halle said as she revealed four hours per day of MMA work. Her stories offered a little insight into just how badass she is.
Seen below, Halle’s stories showed her sun-drenched, outdoors on a lawn, and in full workout mode as she trained with dumbbells from her new Re-Spin fitness brand. The “Catwoman” star kicked off with a foam roller-style rep session, then lying on her back for a savage core strength exercise seeing raised legs, weights in both hands, plus a raised back that worked the actress’ rock-hard abs – she held it for a long time while rocking spandex camo-print leggings in dark gray, a tank, plus a bandana.
“What really made a difference was that instead of doing bodyweight abs exercises, we added weight to everything. As a result, my muscles really started popping,” Halle said.
A caption from Women’s Health shouted out Halle’s Instagram handle, reading: “@halleberry and @respin are back for another edition of #FitnessFriday, and this week we’re talking all about those ? abs ?:”
Halle’s workouts are a major deal for her 6 million Instagram followers as the actress regularly honors Instagram’s #FitnessFriday with personal trainer and “spirit animal” Peter Lee Thomas. Halle has ramped up the workouts since the February launch of her Re-Spin fitness line – products are available at retailers including TJ Maxx and Marshalls.
Outlining her training to Women’s Health, Halle continued:
“Last fall, when I was preparing for my film #BruisedTheMovie, I set the goal to build really visible, muscular abs. I had to look (and perform) like a professional MMA fighter, so, in addition to practicing MMA for four hours every day, I was also doing about 45 minutes of general strength training and 15 minutes of work just on my abs. We threw the kitchen sink at my core and, let me tell you, it took serious dedication.”
Comments quickly came in to Women’s Health via its Instagram – “Damnnnnnn ??????????,” one fan wrote, with another saying: “So motivating!!! She’s one fierce lady!!”
Halle has been showing off a fair amount of skin of late. The actress made headlines on April 15 for going nude behind a pillow dress for Instagram’s “Pillow Challenge,” also going topless in her bathroom four days ago to share a home-made yogurt and green tea face mask. The star continues to make headlines for her quarantine lifestyle – most recently, Halle had to shave her daughter’s head.
