Although Mark Hamill plays a Jedi on screen, he couldn’t help but remind everyone that Adam Driver, who played the villainous Kylo Ren (and the redeemed Ben Solo) in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, is actually “a wonderful human being.”

Although the films themselves weren’t all that well-received by fans, Driver turned out to be a hero in real life when he and Hamill teamed up to help find a missing dog.

Adam Driver Pleads With Fans To Find Missing Dog, Hamill Steps In

In 2019, Driver was busy filming the movie “Annette,” which features Driver starring as a provocative stand-up comedian that falls in love with an opera singer. After the two get married and have a child together, things take a turn for the weird when he discovers that his daughter has a strange musical gift.

Although the eccentric musical has been called one the “weirdest movie of the year” by critics, it’s what happened behind the camera that makes Driver a real hero. After he learned that director Leos Carax discovered that his 9-year-old dog, Javelot, went missing, Driver sprang into action.

He quickly filmed a video asking fans to help find and return the missing dog. However, Driver, who is notoriously private, does not have any social media accounts. That’s when Hamill stepped in to share his message with his three million Twitter followers, asking for their assistance.

Fortunately, their plan worked. Javelot was located at a nearby train station and reunited with a grateful Carax

Mark Hamill Won’t Let Anyone Forget Their Heroism

Last year, on November 19, 2020, Mark Hamill posted a sweet tribute for Driver’s 37th birthday. He tweeted:

“SHOUT OUT to Adam Driver for no particular reason other than he is a helluva an actor, a genuinely nice person & a deeply gifted karaoke singer.* Also, who can ever forget the time we teamed up to rescue that dog? #btw_ThankYouForYourService (*some alcohol required)”

The “karaoke singer” line is a nod to Driver’s starring role in Netflix’s “Marriage Story,” opposite Scarlett Johansson, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for playing a father struggling through a messy divorce.

The “Thank You For Your Service” bit refers to Driver’s time in the military. After he was initially rejected from Juilliard, he served for two years in the United States Marine Corps and earned the rank of Lance Corporal. Just before his unit was about to be deployed to Iraq, he fractured his sternum while out mountain biking with friends and was medically discharged.

Mark Hamill Needs To Get A New Birthday Tribute

This year, for Driver’s 38th birthday, Hamill tweeted:

“SHOUT OUT to Adam Driver for no particular reason other than being a spectacular actor, a wonderful human being, as well as a driver of small cars & finder of lost dogs from your fan, Mar (camel-emoji).”

The “driver of small cars” is referenced in a picture Hamill posted of Driver in a tiny car from the 2019 horror comedy “The Dead Don’t Die,” in which Driver starred with the legendary Bill Murray.

Fans piled on the post to remind everyone that Driver is also a “great bus driver.” Driver has earned high praise for his stunning portrayal of an everyday bus driver in 2016’s “Paterson.”

“He was amazing the last time he hosted Saturday Night Live,” another fan pointed out. “One of the funniest SNLs ever.”

Although Driver can easily shift gears between a terrifying villain, a bus driver, a police officer, and a stand-up comedian, Hamill just wants his fans to remember one thing: he helped Adam Driver rescue a lost dog.
