She’s retired from acting, but don’t think that Cameron Diaz doesn’t know how to keep herself occupied these days, because she recently became a mother to her firstborn Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden.
And while Diaz, who shares her daughter with husband Benji Madden, has kept a low profile since leaving the spotlight, in a new interview with Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power, she describes motherhood as the ‘best part of my life.’
‘I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life’ she gushed to her friend while on Instagram Live together, going on to add that she feels ‘lucky’ to have an amazing husband who’s also been an extremely hands-on dad.
Madden’s tremendous help allows the former actress to catch a break whenever she needs a moment for herself, but there’s not one thing she would fault about motherhood because she’s having a terrific time raising her daughter.
‘I’m either cooking, cleaning or taking care of my baby — and usually all at the same time. I have to cook at night. I know people hate cooking… I drink [wine] every night it’s my wind down for the day.’
The “In Her Shoes” star then went on to talk about Madden’s parenting techniques and how he’d usually take over with the baby so that she can pour herself a glass of wine and start preparing dinner for the family.
‘After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed, he’s so good. He’s such an amazing father. I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s father,’ she quipped.
‘He’s incredible. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.’
Clearly, the doting couple has managed to adjust to parenthood just fine since welcoming their daughter.
Diaz then went on to mention that she hasn’t noticed much of a change in her life since the coronavirus pandemic because she’s been staying at home since the birth of her daughter in December.
The 47-year-old joked that she was already living a ‘quarantine lifestyle’ before the world would do the same just three months later.
She continued: ‘I’ve kinda been living a quarantine life anyhow because I have a three-month-old, three-and-a-half-month. So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months.
‘But I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody.
‘But it’s nice, and I love a bubble and being in the womb of my home with my husband and cooking.
‘But at the same time, it’s crazy that you can’t go out to the world right now.’
Diaz retired from her day-to-day profession in 2014, following the release of her last film “Annie,” – starring Jamie Foxx – which grossed an impressive $136 million worldwide.
