CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, brother to NY Governor Andrew Cuomo, has been very open and honest regarding his day-to-day life after contracting coronavirus. The 49-year-old anchor has detailed what he went through personally, including the hallucinations he had suffered through his high fevers, as well as the weakness he has experienced within his body. But after being quarantined for weeks away from his family, Cuomo shared an update that his worst fears came true—his wife Cristina Cuomo tested positive for the virus, too.
Cuomo said that his wife testing positive for the virus was “the one thing I was hoping wouldn’t happen.” However, despite the positive testing, Cuomo said that both have been in good spirits as of late. Cuomo detailed that the situation was initially frustrating, saying, “This was tough for Cristina to get it. We have a lot of fear because we don’t have a lot of facts.” Cuomo also added about his wife, “She’s stronger than I am. She’s got a stronger immune system, a stronger constitution, and a stronger character.”
This may be why Cuomo and his wife have experienced completely different symptoms. Cuomo has suffered from a fever and body aches while Cristina’s symptoms were different. Cuomo said, “She lost her sense of smell and taste, but no fever. She got a lot of sinus pressure in her head, a little bit of lethargy. And a little bit of residual frustration at me, because I’m almost certainly how she got sick.” Despite both testing positive for the virus, Cuomo explained that their kids were handling things well.
Cuomo and Cristina share two daughters, Bella, 17 and Carolina, 11, and a son Mario, 14. Cuomo said of his kids, “My wife and I have to be separated for another two weeks, which means our house is dependent on a 17-year-old, my daughter Bella, who’s stepping up. But you may hear them because this is now ‘Lord of the Flies’ in my house. The kids are in control.” Cuomo is still sharing his own personal coronavirus updates on CNN each day for the world to follow along with.
Meanwhile, Cristina provided her own health update when she posted on Instagram Thursday, detailing more of what she’s feeling since testing positive. Cristina shared on her IG page a photo of her with her daughter, and captioned it, “Covid-19 got me. ? A seemingly sinus-related infection was my first symptom. But the only frustrating part is I can’t be there for my kids right now in the way they need me as Chris is in isolation too still, no fever and feeling better. Bella, Mario and Carolina have grown up overnight…So much gratitude for them. I can’t wait to wrap my arms around them again. ♥️ ♥️♥️.”
