“Red Notice” is an American comedy/action movie directed by Rawson Thurber, released this month. The film features movie stars like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, and so on.
The movie is about an FBI agent (Johnson) who collaborates with a thief (Reynolds) to catch a hardened criminal (Gadot). It marks the third collaboration between the director and Johnson and between Johnson and Gadot.
The movie ending teased a continuous storyline for Reynolds, Gadot, and Johnson’s characters, and fans are optimistic about getting a sequel. However, considering the schedules of these top stars, is a sequel possible?
The movie received positive comments from critics within the first week of its release, showing that fans are invested in every scene. Looking at the way the movie ended, should fans expect a part 2? Read on to find out what we know.
‘Red Notice’ Ending Hints At A Sequel
The film focuses on three people on a risky mission to steal and sell some ridiculously expensive eggs. Towards the end of the movie, one of them discovered that the remaining two were working together the whole time.
After knowing that, he moved closer, trying to offer help as a team, and they let him in. The team of three carefully plans how to work on their next heist. Anti-crime organizations, including Interpol, are on the trail for this team.

Somehow, the team finds their way to Paris, France, and begins acting their plan out as discussed. Booth (Reynolds), Bishop (Gadot), and Hartley (Johnson) make up the team. Hartley and Bishop were colleagues before Booth joined them.
For now, fans are stuck with several thoughts running through their heads on how the heist went. Did they pull through? Were they apprehended? Was there any form of betrayal in the team? These are questions that only a sequel can answer.
Are Fans Getting A Sequel?
The team’s safe landing in Paris, France, was the final scene in the movie, and fans want to know what comes after. They desperately need a ‘part 2,’ but the movie director or production team has not yet confirmed it.
But as of now, words came from Danny Garcia, an executive on the team who was formerly married to The Rock, that if the movie does well commercially there is a high probability that a sequel will be released.
Garcia told Variety that a franchise is part of their discussions with Seven Bucks Productions. But also did not promise a sequel/franchise; she feels everyone should sit back and hope for the best.
What Some Cast Members Have To Say
Apart from the production team, some cast members are also open to the idea of a sequel. Gadot, who acted as Bishop, addressed her working experience with Reynolds and Johnson in a recent interview.
She loved working with the duo and hopes to make a part 2 with them. She has been on two movies before with Johnson, so her experience is enough to tell how amazing it is to work with the former professional wrestler.

Johnson also revealed in a recent podcast show that conversations about a sequel are going on low-key. The actor said he would love to do more in the movie, but it is also up to the audience to decide. The best he had to say is that, based on the audiences’ reactions and level of reception, there is a likely chance that they will gather once again to produce a sequel. At the time of the podcast, he had a fixed meeting with the movie director.
Then, he intended to pitch the idea of a sequel to the movie director during the meeting. So he also implored everyone to wait and see what materializes from the underground meetings and conversations.
‘Red Notice’ Success Since Its Release
The movie was originally released on November 5, 2021, but it premiered on streaming platforms exactly a week after. Movie critics praised the performances of the cast members but rebuked the storyline and narrative.
A team including Johnson and Garcia produced the one-hour, fifty-eight minutes movie. Each of the main actors was paid at least $20 million for their roles. Per reports, filming kicked off in January 2020 but was halted due to the pandemic.

Luckily, they resumed filming in September 2020, and a large part of it was concluded by the end of October. The movie production costs $200 million, setting the record as the most expensive movie in Netflix’s catalog.
After its release, it turned out to be the most successful opening for a movie in Netflix’s history. It had over 90% audience score within its first week, making the fans optimistic about a sequel later.
