It’s always really nice to see two powerful women in Hollywood become close friends and support each other. A perfect example is Taylor Swift and Blake Lively; two very successful women in Hollywood who have been big supporters of each other since 2015.
The pair are so close that in Swift’s eighth studio album, “Folklore,” she mentioned the names of Lively’s three kids. James, Lively’s eldest daughter, even made a brief appearance on “Gorgeous,” one of Swift’s songs from her previous album, “Reputation.”
However, before the two became public with their close friendship, Swift’s fans believed that Lively shaded the singer in her campaign for L’Oreal Paris. Of course, Lively soon clarified that she would never shade the music superstar because she has always been a big fan.
If you missed the era of those accusations, here is a little recap for you and what we know about Swift and Lively today.
Lively Didn’t Shade Swift
The close-knit friendship between Swift and Lively became public shortly after the music star’s fans accused Lively of shading her in a campaign video.
In 2015, Lively shared pictures on Instagram from her campaign for the cosmetics company L’Oreal Paris. In the post’s caption, she referenced Swift’s famous song “Bad Blood” and the hit music video for the song.
The caption read, “Soooo, turns out this WASN’T a video shoot for John Legend’s cover of ‘Bad Blood,’ @lorealparisofficial blew it out for this one. My #pinkobsession is exposed now. Ok, your turn. I won’t tell!” She also added the hashtag #AlsoTurnsOutJohnLegendIsntCoveringBadBloodTimetostartapetition
Despite the playful tone of Lively’s caption, many of Swift’s fans felt that the message was a subtle jab at their idol. They immediately took to the post’s comment section and other social media platforms to attack the actress for allegedly insulting Swift.
However, Lively made it clear that there was only love between her and Swift soon after.
Lively Is A Big Swiftie
In her post addressing the accusations, Lively wrote, “Umm whoever thought I was throwin’ shade clearly doesn’t know I have a ‘Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife Voo Doo Doll. Love my Canadian family almost as much as I love Taylor Lively. I mean Swift. Ok, FIIINE we can hyphenate our last names. Xo Blake Swift-Lively 4eva.”
Later that month, she also joked that she would play Swift’s hit song “Shake it off” on repeat to help her move on after closing her lifestyle online business, Preserve. After this, Swift and Lively debuted friendship publicly, starting with their posts about their hangout in Australia.
After that, Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were seen making appearances at many of Swift’s parties. They were also present at Swift’s performance of one of her latest songs, “All Too Well,” on Saturday Night Live.
Swift Is Close With Lively’s Family
Lively and Reynolds have made it clear severally that they are Swifties and completely love and support the amazing singer. They have attended many of her concerts over the years, and Reynolds even once used one of Swift’s songs, “Love Story,” in a commercial he did a while back.
The affection isn’t only from the couple, as Swift is also very public about her love for them and their family.
When she won the Grammy award for album of the year for “Folklore,” she mentioned Lively and Reynolds in her appreciation speech and revealed that she always plays her songs for them before release.
The award-winning singer and songwriter said, “I want to thank James, Inez, and Betty and their parents, who are the second and third people that I play every new song that I write.”
Lively Directed Swift’s New Music Video
Seeing how close the female stars are, their fans have clamored severally for a joint project, and finally, these wishes were granted.
Lively made her debut as a director by directing the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me,” one of the songs off Swifts recently released album, “Red” (Taylor’s Version).
Swift posted a teaser of the music video and captioned it with “SURPRISE! NEW MUSIC VIDEO TOMORROW at 10 am ET 🚨 I finally got to work with the brilliant, brave, & wickedly funny @blakelively on her directorial debut. Join us as we raise a toast, and a little hell.”
In turn, Lively promoted the music video by sharing the teaser on her social media pages.
After the video was released, many supporters commended Lively’s work and Swift’s performance in the video and expressed that they would like to see the two work together again in the future.
