Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are among the most private celebrity couples in Hollywood. Although they're both A-list stars, they do their best to make sure that their home lives don't become a part of their work as actors.

And, in spite of the money that comes with their successful careers, they've also made the decision to raise their daughters by themselves. For Gosling and Mendes, the idea of hiring nannies never seems to have crossed their minds in a serious way.

“They’re hands-on parents and don’t have any nannies," a source told Us Weekly. The decision not to hire nannies may have been great for their relationships with their kids, but it may be a bit of a nightmare as the couple works their way through quarantine with their kids.

Like most parents, Gosling and Mendes are likely having to do some combination of homeschooling and finding other ways to keep their kids entertained without leaving the house or interacting with other people.

“Being confined to their home with two small children is exhausting at times, especially without hired help," the source explained. Since they had children, though, the couple has been working to make sure that their kids are always the priority.

“Eva has programmed her entire routine and career to ensure family comes first — then work fits in around it," the source explained. While Mendes sounds like a great mom, Gosling is also getting good grades for his work in the dad department.

“Ryan is protective of Eva and a very doting dad," the source said.

According to the source, the family has had to get creative in response to the virus, but has spent the time watching movies together and doing some reading as well. As it turns out, Gosling loves to cook, and a second source said he likes to get the whole family involved. "That’s his big thing," the source said. "He encourages everyone to do it with him. It’s fun for the whole family.”

Although Gosling and Mendes have had their own headaches as they deal with the impact of the coronavirus, other celebrities have been in a similar boat.

One of the fascinating things about the pandemic is that it's forced celebrities, who are usually reliant on teams to make them look and sound their best, to fly solo. That means that even the most polished celebrities have found themselves getting more candid and honest, which has led to some fascinating moments on social media.
