More news and more lawsuits are coming out of the tragic deadly shooting of Halyna Hutchins at the hands of Alec Baldwin on the set of the movie “Rust”.
A lack of safety procedures, and perfect storm of bad decisions that have subsequently been uncovered by the investigation, seem to be what caused the tragic events.
Now script supervisor Mamie Mitchell is chiming in on what she saw go down that day – and she’s putting more blame on Baldwin. She’s also bringing a lawyer along with her to share her side of the story.
Holding A Press Conference To Announce Her Lawsuit

Rust script supervisor Mamie Mitchell and her lawyer Gloria Allred held a press conference to announce that they are suing Alec Baldwin. In the press conference Mitchell described her experience on the fateful day. She’s blaming Baldwin for a lot of the things that happened that day on set. Lawyer Gloria Allred mentioned that the events that took place that day on set constitute way more than “simple negligence”; saying that the behavior exhibited by Baldwin in particular was outright reckless. “Someone with his experience should’ve known better.”
How Things Went Down That Day According To Mamie Mitchell

Mamie Mitchell recalled her side of the story while fighting back tears in the press conference. She started out by saying,
“I was holding my script in my left hand and had taken out my iPhone and opened up my photos to check the continuity on his shirt and vest.,” she then added, “Then an explosion. Deafening loud gunshot.”
Mitchell then went on to describe the moments after the shot was fired. There was obviously confusion on set followed by moans and complaints. In the bone chilling testimony she mentioned,
“I was stunned. I heard someone moaning and I turned around and my director was falling backwards and holding his upper body and I turned around toward Alec and saw Halyna going down to the left of me.”
Alec Wasn’t Even Suppose To Shoot The Gun In That Scene
“Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired and loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of a firearm.”
What’s Mitchell Looking To Get Out Of The Lawsuit?

Although she held a press conference to announce the lawsuit and gave a public testimony of what she saw on that day there are a couple of things that she left out. Like the amount that she’s suing Baldwin for. What we do know is that the lawsuit contemplates a loss of future earnings, special and general damages, attorneys fees and punitive damages.
Mitchell also talked about the psychological toll that the events have had on her. She mentioned that she is depressed and that she currently doesn’t feel safe. Ultimately saying that she was “afraid of the future”.
