According to sources, a royal expert feels Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to up and leave the Royal Family, and then doing so on March 31, 2020, was very selfish of them. While the Queen did give them her blessings and later also announced that Prince Harry, Meghan, and little Archie will always be beloved members of her family, others have not taken very kindly to their abrupt departure. Today, their official Instagram account is dormant while they are off on a "break".

It's not as if the doors of Buckingham Palace are closed for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But their office at Buckingham is closed because from now on, they will have no more Royal duties to carry out. Their Instagram account, Sussex Royals, is also dormant because they cannot use the word "Royal" anymore, as decreed by the Queen. However, for now, instead of opening further social media accounts as is planned for the future, the erstwhile Duke and Duchess of Sussex are taking a break.

The Decision Was Not Easy But Necessary

Prince Harry's announcement may seem to have come out of the blue, but he was tired of the way Meghan Markle was being treated by the British tabloid media as well as certain members of the Royal family. He also felt that no one in his family took a stand for him and Meghan Markle, and with a little baby to protect as well, he and Meghan made the decision to leave the royal family and live like ordinary mortals.

While they may have had valid reasons for leaving, there are those who feel it was still selfish on their part. Not only have they left the rest of the Royal Family to deal with the surplus of their duties, but they also moved on at a time the world is under the grip of the Coronavirus pandemic. The UK is especially caught up in it all, with the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson as well as Prince Harry's father Prince Charles struck down with the disease.

Once Meghxit was announced, the decision to set the date was addressed as well. So even before the Coronavirus pandemic, March 31 was the date Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ceased to be royalty and became commoners instead. Of course, they will always be celebrities, but they do not have to perform duties anymore or follow the strict rules of the royal family. Call them selfish, but to many, they are simply a couple trying to make the best of a difficult situation and provide a good life for their little boy.
