Britney Spears is back in her grandma’s bathing suit. The 38-year-old pop princess made headlines over February and March for appearing in 12+ images – all very similar – as she posed against a red backdrop and either in a swimsuit she claimed once belonged to her grandmother or a floral-print dress “from the 1920s.”
While mental health concerns were sparked over the images, alongside the “Toxic” singer speaking bizarrely in a British accent, responses to today’s reprisal of the red backdrop shots brought in a wider response.
Britney’s photo showed her in a setting that her 23.8 million Instagram followers are likely already familiar with. It showed the blonde posing in a lacy and low-cut white swimsuit (her “grandmother’s”), also rocking a thin-banded necklace as she rested her head against boyfriend Sam Asghari’s shoulder – the Iranian personal trainer is a regular on the singer’s social media.
A caption shared more:
“Red is the highest arc of the rainbow ? !!! Red encourages action and confidence …. red is all heart ❤️ …. the longest wavelength of light is red. Red is also courage, attention, and passion. The color red naturally draws attention ?????????? !!!!”
Raking in over 159,000 likes in an hour, the update definitely got noticed. Fans were quick to leave comments, with many noticing that the image had been posted before.
“Queen of using the same photo shoot endlessly, we stan,” one fan wrote.
Raking in more likes, though, was a comment pertaining to Britney recently finding herself dubbed “comrade Britney” after she called for a “strike” and “re-distribution” of wealth amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Red: color of communism ✊??,” a fan wrote, with the comment gaining over 480 likes.
With fans on high alert following the long string of February and March posts, Britney did find her mental health raised.
“Are you ok?????” a fan wrote, with others agreeing via likes.
“Not again….,” another said.
Others, meanwhile, were loving it – “Redney Spears” was one reply. Sam himself also replied, writing: “Love.”
Britney’s “comrade” headlines came as she posted a quote from writer Mimi Zhu.
“We will feed each other, re-destribute [sic] wealth, strike,” the star wrote, captioning the update “Communion moves beyond walls.”
Britney has been making headlines amid COVID-19. The singer fronted media outlets last month for straight-up saying “DM” me as she offered to pay for diapers, food, or other necessities to those in need. Britney was tagged in the #DoYourPart challenge by 29-year-old sister Jamie Lynn.
“My sister @jamielynnspears has nominated me to participate in the #DoYourPartChallenge so I’m picking 3 fans to help out during this difficult time … DM me and let me know how I can help and I will do what I can !!! GOD BLESS ??? I nominate @willsmith @samasghari @cadehudson22 !!!” she wrote to accompany her video.
