Kurt Cobain is certainly a musician that defined a generation. His untimely death at the age of 27 left fans with the feeling that the musician still had a lot more to give. Aaron Paul, from 'Breaking Bad', is one of those fans. In a recent interview, he mentioned that he would be interested in playing Cobain in a biopic.

Paul actually mentioned that he thought about playing Cobain since he arrived in Hollywood. Without any type of formal offer on the table though, it's pretty much just a wish of Paul's.

Would Paul Be The Right Man For The Job?

Just right off the bat, it is pretty clear that there is no uncanny physical resemblance. To the point where, if this were to happen Paul would have to be the guy that plays Cobain. It wouldn't be a situation similar to, 'The Two Popes' movie where Jonathan Pryce just had to play Pope Francis. Since they look so much a-like.

That being said, Paul could definitely pull off the look with some help from the make up department. He would also have to wear a wig or do something about the hair. As far as acting chops go Paul is more than qualified. He has shown a lot of range as an actor over his career.

A Little Competition

Maybe people who are not die-hard Kurt Cobain or Nirvana fans won't remember this. The thing is, there is actually a documentary on Cobain's life called 'Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck'.

The documentary was very well received by critics. The film has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, an 83% rating from Metacritic, and a 7.5 out of 10 from IMDb.

Around the time of the film's release quotes from critics usually were similar to the one posted by Sara Stewart of the New York Post, who mentions, "As the credits roll, it’s hard not to just root for the sensitive, progressive, fiercely creative Cobain and wish that he’d lived long enough to find a little peace of mind"

What Type of Story Would People Like To See?

With the success of recent movies that focused on the lives of beloved musicians like ´Bohemian Rapsody´ and ´Rocket Man´, it would make sense that a studio would love to pick up the story of Kurt Cobain. The difference between these 3 stories is that the Cobain story is much more divisive. Especially with the circumstances surrounding his passing. This was not an issue with the other two films. Would that topic have to be left off the table for Cobain's family to greenlight a film? If so, would turn off a lot of the fans?

Who Else Could Get A Biopic Soon?

As was mentioned before biopics on music icons have proven their worth at the box office in the last few years. It would only make sense that studios would be looking to produce more films in the genre. With that said, which musician could be getting a biopic?

There is really a lot of options to chose from. The newer generation is not as acquainted with the story of Elvis Presley. Michael Jackson is becoming more of a decisive figure as time passes. Quite frankly most of the stories surrounding him are not favorable. It may be time for his family to tell his story!
