Carrie Underwood needed zero in the way of fancy flourishes to deliver her home rendition of “Drinking Alone” last night. The 37-year-old country superstar, clothing designer, and “Find Your Path” author belted out her latest hit from her couch on Monday night as part of her “ACM Presents: Our Country” participation – the social distancing airing also included mega-star couple Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, country legend Shania Twain, plus 26-year-old singer Kelsea Ballerini.
Carrie’s bombshell look was alive and well as she delivered her powerful vocals. Instagram was beyond blown away.
Carrie’s video (seen below) landed on her Instagram earlier today, racking up over 100,000 views in just 29 minutes. It showed the “Cry Pretty” singer seated on a chocolate-brown couch in her home, with the red glass of wine next to her giving a nod to the “Drinking Alone” track being sung.
Carrie was rocking simple black jeans and a matching, long-sleeved top, also sporting her signature blonde hair cascading down her shoulders. Putting her all into the vocals, fans got their “American Idol” winner at her best.
Comments poured in quickly.
“SITTING DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are brill to the brill!!!!!!!!” one fan wrote.
“Sooo good,” another said.
“Well….I’ve been drinking alone for the past few weeks bc #quarantine lol. So I guess you can say I approve this message ?” was another comment.
Carrie was also told that this was the version of “Drinking Alone” that “we never knew we needed,” with others telling the mom of two that they loved the “stripped down” version.
The video forms the second COVID-19-centric one in a row for Carrie – four days ago, the star posted a “stay home” message with 2010-married husband Mike Fisher.
Carrie has made headlines for receiving backlash amid the global pandemic now responsible for over 73,000 deaths worldwide. As The Blast documented on April 1, a photo of Carrie in her 2015-founded Calia by Carrie athleisurewear brand’s leggings sparked anger. Some fans found the advertising of merchandise to be in poor taste given the current situation.
Seen in her PowerSculpt leggings and perusing her merch, Carrie had written that she was “staying productive.”
“This should say ‘being productive by making money advertising on Instagram during quarantine, while all you try to figure out how to afford your bills,'” a fan had replied.
Carrie’s March 3-released diet and exercise book was already a New York Times Best-Seller before making headlines for a spike in sales as millions quarantine from home. The pandemic has seen the book shoot up to fifth place on NPD BookScan – “Find Your Path” also comes complete with the Fit52 app that’s seen early downloaders hooked.
Carrie is currently home with retired NHL player husband Mike, plus their children: 5-year-old Isaiah, plus 1-year-old Jacob. The star has encouraged fans to stay fit while home, also sharing her own tortilla pizza – with ingredients made from what was already in the fridge.
