Ron Perlman has always been known around Hollywood as a bit of a lovable tough guy. He portrayed some iconic characters such as Hell Boy and he pretty much appears in any movie that Guillermo Del Toro directs. That image as an overall good guy was never more on display than the particular day that he revealed that he had shaken hands with Harvey Weinstein.

Prior to doing so though, Perlman had purposely urinated on his own hands! This is how the encounter went down.

It would just be perfect to be able to say that Perlman was aware of what was going on behind the scenes with Weinstein. That was the main reason why he did what he did. By all accounts though, Perlman was not fully aware of what Weinstein was doing. In this case, it can be said that the act was a personal vendetta.

Perlman had contacted him to try and get a ticket to a charity event that Weinstein was hosting. That is where Harvey bad-mouthed Perlman.

In a recent interview with The Daily Beast Perlman told the story in detail mentioning, “I never really had a relationship with Harvey but I wanted to show up to one of his charity events when I got on the phone with him to request a ticket, he just acted like a fuckin’ piece-of-sh*t pig, like, ‘Who are you to ask me?"

Perlman continued saying, "I said to him, ‘Well, it’s OK, Harvey, I managed to get a ticket between the time I called you and now, so I’ll be there tonight.’ And he said, ‘Oh, you’ll be there? Well, make sure you shake my hand out of respect."

Getting A lot of Backlash

When Perlman put out that tweet back in 2018 he actually got a lot of backlash from it. Most of the comments that people made revolved around the fact that Perlman did not call Weinstein out about his behavior. He decided that it was more appropriate to just pee on his own hands.

With this back story though, a lot of things are a bit clearer. Perlman was not trying to call out Weinstein for his antics as far as sexual abuse goes. He was just trying to get personal revenge for Harvey being rude to him over the phone.

Can Blame Be Placed on Perlman?

Knowing the back story to the situation helps understand that Perlman's intentions were never to call Weinstein out over the sexual abuse allegations. Like most people in Hollywood at the time Perlman pretty much mentions that he was not aware of Weinstein's antics.

Sadly, many people in Hollywood that knew of these antics stayed silent for a long time. Perlman at least did something about Weinstein being rude to him personally. It is not that this should make Perlman a hero. Calling him out about not taking further action may seem a little excessive though.
