Shaan Patel is a cast-member of Bravo's 'Family Karma', and he is the youngest member of the bunch. However, despite the fact he is the youngest, he is not shy.

Patel can live in his parents compound, which is 30,000 feet, he decided to move to his own townhouse with his girlfriend. This is not typical, as most Indian children will return to live with their parents after graduating college. They usually live with their parents until marriage.

Not Patel. He told Showbiz Cheat Sheet at a 'Family Karma' red carpet sighting, "that if he was going to work with his family, he was not going to live at home. He decided to lay it on the line and move out."

Patel said that he did return to Miami after studying architecture in graduate school. “I came back here, my dad had just sold his business and I was like, ‘Hey, let’s do this.’ Like, let’s do something together. And I just started basically building stuff and selling stuff. So I design, build and sell.”

Patel's company builds throughout Florida. The industr is robust, according to Patel. “We build semi-luxury brand new construction. People love our products and we’re building in many cities so it’s for young professionals.” While business is booming, Patel still wanted his own space. Even a huge family home was not enough space for him.

He shared that he actually told his father, "If we're going to work together, we cannot live together." Because he just needed to be able to separate work from home.

He moved out of the family home and into his own, with his girlfriend Pooja. 'Family Karma' viewers have knowledge that Vishal Parvani and his girlfriend, Richa sleep in different rooms when she's visiting. However Patel said he wanted to live with his girlfriend and not have to sneak around.

“We don’t keep it a secret. Which is what we wanted to do from the start. A big Indian thing is brushing things under the rug, but we didn’t want that specifically.” He continued on, to share his nerves about telling his parents he wanted to live with his girlfriend, and to explain that it was actually harder for her, as an Indian woman with Cheat Sheet: “We wanted people to know about it, and I’m very lucky that my parents are super supportive. And I knew going into that, they’d do that no matter what. But my girlfriend, she’s a little harder, being an Indian woman."

Patel also gave some insight in to his life with his family and friends, with Cheat Sheet, stating: "This is such a strange dichotomy here. There’s definitely some male rivalry like one-upmanship, that happens. But it’s all people you’ve known since you were little so it’s natural and it happens. Also obviously the parents increase that because they compare their kids with each other. So it’s like, ‘My son’s doing this, my daughter’s doing this.’ So that rivalry has increased as well.”
