Rita Wilson's First Public Performance Post COVID-19 Is Giving Us Chills (The Good Kind)

Actress Rita Wilson made her way back into the public’s eye in an intentional way on Sunday when she performed the National Anthem for NASCAR following her return to the United States.

Wilson and husband Tom Hanks were quarantined in Australia for two weeks after being diagnosed with COVID-19, or Coronavirus, while in the land down under.

The actress’ performance was done remotely, as NASCAR and other sporting events are practicing social distancing, and the recently returned Wilson gave a goosebumps-inducing performance of the anthem.

Wilson along with Hanks announced that they had made their way back to the United States after staying in quarantine for two weeks in Australia after being diagnosed with COVID-19, or coronavirus.

The pair were diagnosed while overseas and watched from a distance as their fellow Americans struggled with social distancing and how long to keep away from family and friends.

Hanks, who has been updating fans via social media, announced on Twitter that the pair had left Queensland after their weeks of self-isolation.

"Hey, Folks...We're home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing. Many, many thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it. Hanx," the actor tweeted.

Hanks and Wilson were some of the first American actors to be diagnosed with the rapidly spreading virus.

Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."

Hanks updated fans after a week in isolation following the coronavirus diagnosis:

"One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs," he wrote according to Cheat Sheet. "Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch."

This first positive update came as a relief one week later:

The star is quarantined in Australia with wife Rita Wilson, where the pair were both tested and found to have the highly contagious CoVid-19.
