Kelsea Ballerini may well find her name Googled a lot tonight. The 2020 CMA Awards cancellation nonetheless sees country music’s stars continuing to join forces amid hard times, with the Sunday night airing of the “ACM Presents: Our Country” special including the 26-year-old blonde alongside mega-stars such as Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, plus Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.
Kelsea has stayed active on Instagram amid COVID-19, having already made headlines for enjoying wine in bed while wearing McDonald’s socks, plus reminding fans that a little sunshine does wonders. An Instagram share showing the Tennessee native singing on her floor blew fans away, though.
Seen below, Kelsea’s Friday Instagram update couldn’t have been simpler. It showed the “homecoming queen?” singer seated on a wood-paneled floor and in a white-walled corner as she sang a capella – no flourishes. Kelsea delivered her stunning vocals as she sang “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” to cheer her 2 million followers up, seen rocking a light denim shirt with a dark patch pocket, plus a pair of ripped jeans.
Barefoot and with her bombshell blonde locks worn down, Kelsea was 100% makeup-free as she belted out the well-known track, adding that she found the song gave her “peace” as a “little girl.”
Currently sitting at over 213,000 views, the video also brought in a giant wave of comments. For many, it seemed, this little act of simplicity had brought a ray of sunshine during dark times.
“This cover is literally so beautiful,” one fan wrote.
“Funny bc right now I’m literally listening to your album to calm my anxiety,” another added.
“Once this coronavirus is over and you go on tour please coming to Indiana again!❤️,” a third wrote.
A like also came in from 45-year-old comedian Chelsea Handler.
Kelsea has made headlines for keeping her social media updates simple amid the global pandemic. Following a video of the star rolling around her bed and enjoying cookie dough, a series of photos kicking off with Kelsea holding a glass of red wine in bed and rocking McDonald’s socks were posted – the update also included boxes of McNuggets as Kelsea wrote:
“Me in quarantine- a saga and an emotional journey. ? (but really, please be smart and kind to the world by STAYING HOME!!! it’s so, so important. ?)”
Kelsea’s third studio album, “Kelsea” has been released amid the pandemic, landing her a profile with Rolling Stone – the iconic magazine dubbed the star’s release as the “ideal” quarantine companion.
Speaking of the timing of the release, Kelsea said:
“I’m not going to lie, I had a few days of just being flat disappointed and pacing my floors trying to find a way around something there is no way around. However, the more I zoom out, the more I realize that this is a time where people want and need music more than ever.”
