It was a recent interview with music star Miley Cyrus that Selena Gomez opened up about her mental health. This all happened on Cyrus' Instagram show that she has been doing every weekday at the same time.

It isn't easy to talk about mental health with the stigma around it. It is hard to bring it up but there are times it is important. With the world facing a global crisis of COVID-19 right now mental health has taken a large hit. If you haven't say a thank you to our workers that are doing their best to keep the world moving.

Gomez opened up to Cyrus saying that she was diagnosed at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts with bipolar disorder. She did not say which type as there are two types of it. What we do know is she has been educating herself on the disorder through books and learning from mental health professionals.

"McLean Hospital and I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar and so, when I go to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn't scare me once I know it and I think people get scared of that." Selena told Cyrus.

Gomez pointed out that she has seen signs in family and friends about mental health issues but it wasn't talked about. In Texas, where the star is from, it is scary to have something and even taboo. If one isn't healthy then one is "broken" which isn't the case. It is a rather backward way of thinking if we are being honest.

Why treat the brain any different than any other organ. If your heart is in need of help you take medication and the same should be said for the brain. Sometimes it just needs some help.

"When I finally said what I was gonna say, I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away," Gomez explained to Cyrus. "When I was younger, I was scared of thunderstorms and my mom bought me all these different books on thunderstorms, so she's like, 'The more that you educate yourself on this, the more that you're not gonna be afraid' and it completely worked and that's kind of something that helps me big time."

Gomez is right in saying this. The more you learn about something the less scary it becomes.

Gomez is now on the right path to taking care of herself. She wants to be the best she can be. It shows that she is taking care of herself too in her music. She has some new music out that is so heartfelt. It shows how far the singer has come and we are glad.

On March 30, she stated, "So thankful for every single medical professional who is putting their health on the line to take care of others." Gomez explained more in her tweet, "I'm donating to [Cedars-Sinai] as they are low on masks and ventilators. They've taken such good care of me so it's my turn to show my gratitude."
