Channing Tatum and Jessie J have reportedly broken up for the second time.

The couple seemed to be going the distance after reconciling earlier in the year following a brief split towards the end of 2019.

Multiple outlets reported on April 4 that the stars had decided to end things just months after they made up. According to sources, the split appears to be a permanent one.

But it bears the question: what happened to his seemingly low-key likable couple?

The former couple has addressed the reports surrounding their breakup, but close sources said that the split stemmed from the realization that they were better off as friends rather than lovers.

“They cared enough about each other to try again but realized it was better to move on,” a source told People on April 4. “It’s totally amicable.”

Another insider spoke with E! News saying that “they had tried again to make it work but realized they were better off as friends.”

The actor and the British songstress were first romantically linked in October 2018 when they were photographed playing a game of mini-golf. A source told Entertainment Tonight at the time that the romance was “very new” and that he had become really fond of the “Price Tag” singer.

Things seemed to be going great for weeks as their relationship progressed by making their relationship Instagram-official in November 2018.

The couple continued to show their love for each other through flirty comments and other social media posts.

By March 2019, there were reports that the Magic Mike actor and the singer were talking about marriage. But instead of an engagement announcement, the couple decided to break up. Sources told People in December that their busy schedules had lead to the couple calling it quits.

“He is super busy with his career and as a dad,” the source said of the actor. “He has a world awaiting him and is trying to manage how busy he is which isn’t easy.”

The source added, “[Channing] has a lot on his plate right now and wants to be the best dad possible which means he needs to be around when he isn’t traveling for his own work."

A surprise came in January when Tatum shared an Instagram photo of them cuddling while Jessie J wrote on the platform that she was feeling “happiness from the inside out” along with a clip of her and Tatum kissing.

“I love you so much baby @channingtatum,” she captioned the video. “The way you love me and the way I love you and the way we feel it is all that matters.”

The couple continued to share plenty of romantic moments as they spent Valentine’s Day together, with a video showing the couple on a date. But somewhere over the next few weeks, they decided to split up again.

Sometimes, people need a second chance to see if they are a true match.
