Buying Instagram followers is not a new thing for celebrities who depend much on ads to earn some dollars. However, for a royal couple like Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, buying Instagram followers may seem quite strange.

The royal couple boasts of a whopping 11.4 million Instagram following, a part of which fans believe could be fake. The couple does not rely at all on any income from marketing gigs, which makes buying followers for building on their reputation seem unnecessary.

Although marketing purposes is one of the main reasons celebrities opt to buy Instagram followers, Kate and her husband Prince William may have other reasons to want their Instagram following to remain high.

They reportedly used to share the account @KensibngtonRoyal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle right after their wedding in 2018, when the couple lived in Kensington Palace. However, Harry and Meghan decided to move out of the palace last year, and they also resolved to create their separate account @SussexRoyal.

Prince William and Kate Didn’t Want Harry and Meghan’s Followers to Surpass Theirs

The royal brothers Prince William and Prince Harry have had a feud since Meghan came into the question, and a rivalry on the number of followers is a possibility. After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle created their Instagram account, they quickly gathered 1 million Instagram following, a turnout that saw fans predict that they would soon surpass @KensingtonRoyal following.

However, the prediction never seems to materialize, and there has been speculation that Prince William and Kate’s team could be manipulating the figures just to remain ahead.

@SussexRoyal and @KensingtonRoyal Have the Same Amount of Followers at Times

Prince Harry and Meghan have gathered a significant number of followers that kept growing since they created the account. However, there is one thing that seems to amuse fans the more when it comes to the royal brothers’ Instagram followers. The accounts either have the same number of followers for a while, or @KensingtonRoyal is ahead.

As noted by Cosmopolitan, the phenomenon is quite strange, and the news outlet adds that even the Kardashians never have an Instagram following that close.

Prince Harry and William Are Probably Not Trying to Outdo Each Other

Although there is a feud between Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, the two do not have a history of working hard to outsmart each other. Besides, Prince William and Kate’s Instagram following is not confirmed to be fake yet. The brothers are said to have different personalities since their early days, but they do not consider themselves rivals.

Their wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are also said not to get along, although recent reports claim they might get closer now that Meghan Markle will be leading a new and happy life.
