Britney Spears clocked herself over 100,000 likes in just 20 minutes on Friday. The 38-year-old pop icon took to Instagram to mark little sister Jamie Lynn turning 29 soon – the “Zoey 101” alum featured in Britney’s photo as a young child, with the two blondes taking no time to bring in the fans.
The throwback showed how much the two have changed over the years – Jamie Lynn, especially – also giving Britney’s 23.8 million followers another reminder of the mind-blowing body that defined the “Toxic” singer’s identity back in the day.
Britney’s photo showed her on stage and standing next to her sibling – the height difference was marked as the two were sandwiched by a mic, with Britney’s Nickelodeon star sister seen in a cute, buttercup-yellow top and jeans as she waved an arm up.
Britney, meanwhile, was sizzling in her 20-something state, seen flaunting her rock-hard abs and killer cleavage in a loose and braless red shirt with an open-stomach finish – super low-slung jeans with a metal-hoop belted detail added extra sex appeal. Looking a little caught-off-guard, the blonde bombshell nonetheless looked fantastic.
A caption from the pop princess shouted out her little sister.
“Happy early Birthday to this gal !!!!! I love ya so much and I hope you get all your bday wishes and more ???? !!!!!” Britney wrote.
Instagram appeared 100% in the mood for the nostalgia.
“I have a sudden urge to watch Crossroads,” one fan wrote, with their comment racking up over 78 likes in 30 minutes.
“Britney can I borrow that blouse? ?” was a cheeky comment, with others writing: “GORGEOUS SISTERS” and “Iconic.”
Britney made global headlines in March for straight-up offering to pay for food and diapers amid the coronavirus pandemic – “DM” me, the mom of two told her Instagram followers as she embraced the #DoYourPart challenge.
Less spoken of has been who tagged Britney. Jamie Lynn had kicked off the Spears out-reach, saying that she’d be offering the same, alongside “wipes.” The new Netflix star then returned to the platform to partner up with Doordash to deliver free meals to the needy, then getting 11-year-old daughter Maddie and infant girl Ivey to join her to thank frontline workers.
Britney has proven a headline-maker these past few months on account of seemingly-sporadic and repetitive posts – over 12 showed the “Womanizer” singer against a red backdrop and posing in a swimsuit she claimed to belong to her grandmother, plus a dress stated to be from the 1920s. Alongside a video of Britney speaking bizarrely in a British accent, the posts sparked concerns over the star’s mental health.
Britney has since responded.
“I’ve read a lot of things online of people criticising my posts… saying I post the same 15 pictures with the same red background and wearing the same white bathing suit,” she wrote, adding:
“Reading all of the mean comments really hurts my feelings… and I wanted to share because you really shouldn’t be saying all of these mean things to someone you don’t even know… this goes for bullying anyone really!!!!!!”
