With people stuck at home, major TV networks are looking to do their part to help people get through this time. TNT is one of those very interesting channels that has been able to shift its focus over the years in order to stay relevant.

For a generation, TNT was the channel that you would go to if you had basic cable to watch movies. People these days are not looking to cable television for movies. So TNT moved to televise basketball and other sporting events! Now, they are even creating original content.

Why Shaq over Chuck?

TNT has a couple of former NBA stars under contract. Most notably, of course, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal. That particular contract is probably the main reason why the series is being produced by TNT. That being said, why would the network pick Shaq over Chuck?

This answer is also pretty simple, Shaq has always loved the camera. Just turning on the TV for a little while there is a chance that you will run into at least one commercial that features Shaq. While Chuck, on the other hand, has always been pretty quiet with his personal life.

Shaq is not a person that is known for being content while sitting still. He is a guy who played a 19 year NBA career, was featured in movies and commercials. Although, the movies, were not a major hit. Became one of the largest chain restaurant owners in the country, will now have to shows on TV airing at the same time. In the midst of all this actually found a way to get a doctorate in education.

As far as what you can expect to see on the show, there is really no telling what could or couldn't come up when it comes to Shaq!

Family Life

Giphy

Shaq is a big family guy. Even though, his family is not exactly "conventional". He married Shaunie Nelson in 2002. They have 4 kids together and a son from one of Nelson's previous relationships. Shaq also has a daughter from a previous relationship. That is why he mentions that he has 6 kids.

Shaq and Shaunie divorced back in 2009. Since then he has dated various TV personalities. These days he is dating Laticia Rolle. Who is a 31-year-old model

Not The O'Neal's First Time On Reality TV

This is not going to be Shaq's first time on reality TV. Neither will it be the first time on reality TV for his family. Shaunie O'Neal is actually a major fixture in reality TV. She was an executive producer and star in the VH1 show Basketball Wives. She is also in her own series called Shaunie's Home Court.

It is safe to say that at least the O'Neal kids have a good idea of what it is like to live with cameras around all the time. So, this new series won't be a major shift for them.
