Lenny Kravitz, Chance The Rapper, and Many Others Pay Tribute To Bill Withers

A disheartening headline appeared this morning, stating that on Monday, R&B singer Bill Withers, had sadly passed away at the staggering age of 81.

Withers' career spanned multiple decades, starting firmly in the '70s. Some of his biggest hits included 'Lean on Me' and 'Ain't No Sunshine' among many others. Withers unfortunately passed away due to heart complications.

Many big artists took to social media to pay tribute to Withers' and his incredible career, and influence in the music world.

Withers' Family Statement

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other," Withers' family told Associated Press

"As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world. In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones."

Chance The Rapper's Tribute

Chance The Rapper payed his condolences on twitter with a message that hit close to home, and the impact that Withers had on his childhood.

"Aw man, Bill Withers was really the greatest. Grandma’s Hands, Ain’t No Sunshine, Lean on Me, Use Me Up, Just The Two Of Us and obviously Lovely Day are some of the best songs of all time. My heart really hurts for him, it reminds me of playing records with at my grandma’s house" said Chance.

Lenny Kravitz Pays His Respects

Lenny Kravitz singer/songwriter of hits like 'Fly Away' and 'Ain't over til' its over' (and who also covered 'Use Me'), payed his respects to the late idol, "Rest in power" said Kravitz:

"Rest in power Bill Withers. Your voice, songs, and total expression gave us love, hope, and strength. My soul always has & always will be full of your music. Your humility displayed & depth of your power as you carried us all to a better place. You're still & always will be Bill."

Among Chance, and Kravitz was Brian Wilson, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Kamala Harris, Nile Rodgers and so many others who paid their personal tributes.
