Ever since One Direction broke up, its dedicated fan base, the Directioners, have speculating as to when the band would get back together. While the boys have been having their own successful individual careers as artists, they still have dropped hints over the past year that One Direction may be having a reunion of sorts or even get back together. According to HollywoodLife, Harry Styles continued to perpetuate that rumor during an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1’s "The Morning Mash Up."

“I’m just going to throw this idea out there,” host Nicole Ryan began. “What about hopping on a Zoom, with you and some of the 1D boys, and possibly, you know, doing a quick performance? I mean, it could be five minutes, but it would bring so much joy to so many people.”

Styles shot down a virtual reunion, but then hinted that there may be another type of reunion in store.

“I don’t know if that’s the reunion that we’ve had in mind," Styles replied.

"Uhh, I don’t know if that’s how, if that would be the way to do it but I’ll have a quick whip round,” he added.

Back in December 2019, Liam Payne hinted that the reunion wasn't too far off.

“I think at some point we will get back together. I think we will for sure,” he told Sunday Brunch. “I don’t know when that is yet, but all I know is that there are at least two years because everyone’s released new music and you have to go and promo. There are at least two years.”

While Harry's enjoying life as a solo artist, he also is not opposed to a reunion.

“I don’t think I’d ever say I’d never do it again, because I don’t feel that way. If there’s a time when we all really want to do it, that’s the only time for us to do it, because I don’t think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we’re all like, ‘Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again,’” he told Rolling Stone in August 2019.

“But until that time, I feel like I’m really enjoying making music and experimenting. I enjoy making music this way too much to see myself doing a full switch, to go back and do that again. Because I also think if we went back to doing things the same way, it wouldn’t be the same, anyway," he added.

While fans were convinced that the band would reunite in 2020, it may be an ambitious goal considering the pandemic. However, odds are more likely than not that they will eventually reunite.
