Nicole Richie is finding herself making some adjustments to her parenting techniques, having admitted that her children Sparrow, 10, and Harlow, 12, are heavily dependent on their tech devices during the coronavirus lockdown.

Now that her kids are studying from home, their lectures are held through Zoom’s web conferencing app, which is ironic since Richie has always been strict about how much time Sparrow and Harlow get to spend on the internet.

The former reality star discussed the drastic changes her family has made during a recent appearance on "Live with Kelly and Ryan." 'They're in home school so they're doing their Zooms,' Richie gushed.

'It's weird, I spent 10 years preaching no screens and now they've become kind of a lifeline over here. It's literally the opposite of what I've been telling them.

'They're doing school but they're also doing their extracurricular activities and they're communicating with their friends.'

The 38-year-old went on to explain how she’s come to realize that her children’s mobile devices have also allowed them to keep themselves occupied while she and husband Joel Madden try to find some alone time for themselves.

Being Stuck At Home Hasn't Been Easy For Her Kids

Needless to say, Richie is trying to do the best she can as her family remains quarantined at her Los Angeles home, which has been easier said than done.

'They really need that time. They need that time away - I'm sure a lot of moms feel like they need time away from their kids too, but it's true, a lot of time kids need time away from us.

'They want to talk about other things, and I think they're doing a really great job.'

She acknowledged that while adjusting to a new way of living has been a little challenging, the kids would be having just as much of a hard time - so Nicole is learning to be less lenient when it comes to their screen time limitations on their tech devices.

'They want to talk about other things, and I think they're doing a really great job,' she continued.

'We are doing okay. I think there's so many waves of emotions. You don't have to feel okay all the time, but the kids are adjusting really well.

Her Family Remains Healthy And Happy

'I can't imagine what it's like to be a 10- and 12-year-old right now and only being around adults and having adults talk about one thing all day long.

'Big picture, we are healthy and we're home and that's the most important thing you can do right now, stay home. We're home.'

Earlier this week, to keep herself busy during the coronavirus pandemic, Richie made an appearance on Miley Cyrus’ "Bright Minded" web talk show.

During the live stream, she admitted to feeling 'really scared' about the recent global crisis, saying that 'the fear is very heavy.'
