Celebrity IOU is new upcoming show that will show Hollywood stars giving back to people how have impacted their lives in a major way. The show, which premieres April 13, follows the Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott. They team up with celebrities like Brad Pitt, Viola Davis, Michael Bublé, and Rebel Wilson to help them give back to specific people that are dear to their hearts.
Melissa McCarthy is another celebrity that will be on the show that wants to upgrade her aunt and uncle’s home.
McCarthy explains on HGTV’s teaser for the show why she wanted to do something special for her aunt and uncle, who are both retired police officers.
“They’ve spent their whole life taking care of other people,” McCarthy said. “I couldn’t think of anyone else that deserves it more.”
“It’s really easy to give back to two people that have done nothing but give,” McCarthy said. The Identity Theft actress went on to add that the moral lessons she learned from her relatives “made me want to give.”
McCarthy is considered one of Hollywood’s most beloved female comedians, but something that fans might not know about her is that she has a really big heart and she has her family to thank for it.
In a 2017 interview with Irish America, McCarthy revealed that a lot of family members are in vocations that ‘give back’ to their communities. McCarthy said, “I’ve got about a million Chicago Irish cops in my family, and if things hadn’t worked out for me as an actress, I could have seen myself as a teacher.”
In the clip, McCarthy reveals that she knows specifically what she wants to do for her deserving relatives. The actress wants to create an upstairs retreat for her aunt so she can cook and entertain people. And downstairs, she wants to put in a man cave for her uncle.
McCarthy herself took the initiative to do some of the preparations for the renovations herself and said, “Going at a wall with a sledgehammer is super-satisfying.”
She then holds up a power drill and said, “Jim’s man-cave has begun.”
McCarthy also knows a thing or two about renovation and real estate. The Bridesmaids actress recently purchased a beautiful property in Valley Village, California according to Variety.
She and her husband Ben Falcone spending $2.4 million on the purchase.
The house is a one-story, 2,800-square-foot home and has four bedrooms along with 3.5 bathrooms. It features an open floor plan, which includes a chef’s kitchen with custom cabinetry, high-end fixtures, a large island with seating, and tons of other features that shows that the actress has great taste for properties.
