Things have been tense for the royal family for quite some time now. The exit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle having seemed to bring the family’s issues and occasional drama to the forefront. And unfortunately, the COVID-19 — often referred to as the Coronavirus — global pandemic has only seemed to make things worse for the Windsors.
An inside source is now blaming the global pandemic and its fallout for renewed tensions between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William.
The two princes’ original reactions to the COVID-19 outbreak have been quite different. In the earlier days of the pandemic, the Duke of Cambridge got into trouble by poking fun at the public’s scared reactions to the virus.
While visiting Ireland William implied that people might be assuming they have the virus when they only have an everyday cough. He then stated that he and his wife — Kate Middleton — had to be careful about spreading the virus around and said they would stop doing so if asked.
Meanwhile, royal experts and commentators were very upset with Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan when they decided not to bring their infant son — Archie Harrison — back to the United Kingdom with them when they returned for the Commonwealth Day celebration.
Some blasted the Sussexes after this incident, saying there was simply no excuse to keep the baby from his great-grandmother — Queen Elizabeth II. However, sources later revealed that it was fear of the pandemic that prompted the couple to leave their son at home.
Eventually, the entire family seemed to come around to the severity of the virus. At the Commonwealth Day celebration, the royals were said to have rubbed elbows rather than shaking hands in greeting. Prince William was reportedly overheard remarking how strange and unnatural everything felt.
Queen Elizabeth II took to wearing gloves and canceling appearances in an effort to avoid the virus. Unfortunately, Prince Charles tested positive and was quarantined in his Scotland home with mild symptoms. He has since been let out of isolation by his doctors.
While sources have recently claimed that the two brothers have been mending their relationship since Harry left for North America, a new report says tensions have begun to crop up between them again.
Harry and William were said to have spoken to each other more often after the younger brother left the royal family. But the source says William has begun to feel angry that Harry has not returned to help the royals deal with the pandemic. The report says they still speak, but that things are more awkward now.
