As the fallout from the coronavirus becomes clear, celebrities around the world have stepped up to boost people's morale or provide other means of support for those who have been impacted by the virus or its economic fallout.

Now, Oprah Winfrey has announced that she'll be contributing $10 million to help those who have been impacted by the virus. Winfrey revealed her plan in an IG TV post in which she was interviewing José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, and Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the CEO of Feeding America.

"I know not everybody can donate a million dollars, but I feel like this is the central place to [donate to] if you really want to do something," Winfrey said, while video chatting with the pair. "I know I can trust my money in your hands."

In response, Andrés, who seemed stunned by the announcement, expressed his gratitude to the mogul for her generosity and offered a message of hope to those watching who are dealing with hardships in their lives.

"We are so honored to be in your presence giving this fund this kind of visibility," he said. "We are going to come out of this crisis stronger than ever, making sure we don’t leave anybody behind."

$1 million of the money will go to America’s Food Fund, a new charity launched to help families get food amidst this pandemic. The other $9 million will be split among charities that Winfrey has been involved in in the past, including Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, Texas.

In captioning the post, Winfrey wrote "@chefjoseandres and Claire Babineaux-Fontenot have teamed up with @leonardodicaprio, Laurene Powell Jobs and @Apple to launch America’s Food Fund to help feed local communities. I was struck by the work these organizations are doing and while everyone’s priority right now is to stay safer at home, I know there are many of us looking for ways to help."

Winfrey has done a number of interviews around the pandemic in a new series for Apple TV+ that is focused on the virus.
