In his new memoir, The First Time, Colton Underwood shares behind-the-scenes secrets and gives us insight into how he felt during his stints on The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and, of course, his season of The Bachelor. One aspect he touches on is the feud between Hannah Brown and Caelynn Miller-Keyes during his tenure as the Bachelor. Because each woman had a different account of how the drama between them started, Underwood's outside perspective helps clear things up a bit.

It's been a while since the feud took place on our TV screens. A whole new cycle of Bachelor franchise shows has happened, so most of us have forgotten the details of the conflict that went down between Brown and Miller-Keyes while they were contestants on The Bachelor. Basically, the two both competed for Miss USA, and some kind of falling out happened between the two former friends during the pageant that caused them to dislike each other so much.

While Brown alleges that Miller-Keyes created a "hostile" environment for her during the pageant, Miller-Keyes has said that Brown began acting out because of jealousy. "We were super close and then she wasn’t happy that I was first runner-up," she told Underwood. "She was sad that she didn’t place, for sure." Underwood gave us a bit more insight in his book: "From what they told me off camera," he wrote, "their problem had to do with a tasteless joke about a serious matter related to one of their family members. I won’t say anything more."

Underwood, being the gentleman that he is, did not divulge any further details about what Brown and Miller-Keyes told him in confidence. While that does not completely explain what happened, it offers us a clue as to what may have triggered the drama and animosity in the first place. Underwood also revealed that the whole conflict affected everyone on the show. "The tension of being on the show together opened this old wound and cast a dark cloud over the entire week," he wrote.

In another bombshell, Underwood revealed that Brown crashed his hometown date with Hannah Godwin. Godwin and Brown are both from the same state, so it wasn't too much of a stretch for this to happen. "[I]t seemed she wanted to lash out and vent. She went off on the remaining four girls and told me they didn’t have the qualities that made her so amazing. It was the beast in her, roaring and raging," Underwood wrote. It's kind of interesting why they did not televise this, but maybe producers already knew Brown was in the running to be the next Bachelorette, and wanted to keep public opinion positive. Either way, it looks like all's well that ends well-- Underwood, Miller-Keyes, and Godwin are coupled up, while Brown might be back with her ex, Tyler Cameron.
