Idris Elba Provides Update For Fans After Passing Quarantine Period: 'Stuck in Limbo'

It's been two weeks since actor Idris Elba tested positive for the coronavirus after contracting the infection in New Mexico. Elba had been working on a film at the time he was exposed to the COVID-19 virus, which subsequently resulted in the actor having to quarantine himself immediately.

His wife, Sabrina, flew to him after hearing the news, only for her to contract the coronavirus. Well, the couple has been isolating themselves for two weeks and has now passed the 'quarantine period'. On Tuesday, they provided an update for their fans on their respective conditions.

Elba Explains They're Both Still Asymptomatic, 'Stuck in Limbo'

Just like he had provided updates to people prior, Elba took to his Twitter account and posted a video that explained their current conditions and what they are to expect moving forward. "What's up people, just wanted to send you a little update on how we're doing," Elba, 47, began in the video post."

"We're both doing OK, still asymptomatic; we've passed the quarantine period, but we're a little bit stuck in limbo. We can't get a flight back home, so we just have to sit still for a little bit."

The Actor Believes That the Worst Has Passed For Their Conditions

According to Elba, the worst aspects of the coronavirus infection had already passed, although they both admitted they had been asymptomatic from the onset of their respective diagnoses. "Other than that, we're OK and we're so thankful for that," the actor continued in the video. "I think the worst of it has probably passed."

The 'Cats' star went on to explain that both he and his wife were beginning to get a bit of 'cabin fever' after following strict isolation protocols for the last couple of weeks. But, they're trying to stay optimistic and level-headed about the whole ordeal.

Elba wanted to let his fans know that he was thinking about them amid his quarantine, hoping that they were remaining safe and sane during the pandemic. He also expressed that he didn't want anyone to panic at this moment in time.

"We're both good, mentally, just trying to stay optimistic. I hope you guys are, too, keeping yourselves sane and not getting too worried and too panicked," the actor said while also offering reassurance to his fans.

"Take it from me, I thought I was definitely going to see the worst of it as an asthmatic, but thankfully I came through and you can, too."

Elba GIves Big Shoutout to Healthcare Workers on the Front Lines

To conclude his social media post, Elba gave a big shoutout to those on the front lines helping to combat the deadly virus. "Just a big shoutout to everyone that's helping other people, especially the doctors and nurses and health care people that are doing their thing, you lot are amazing and should be fully appreciated," Elba said.

"And to everyone that's going through some hard times financially right now: Just bare up. This is going to be a tough time for everyone but keep your head up, basically, alright," he concluded. "
