As the release date for the new Spider-Man No Way Home movie approaches more and more actors are getting questions about a potential return to the franchise. Although most of the folks involved in previous Spider-Man film franchises have outright denied that they are going to appear in this new film, they have taken their time back in the spotlight to reminisce about being in the film franchise. Kirsten Dunst , who famously played Mary-Jane Watson, has been one of those actors that have denied a return to the spider-verse. She did recall though that when she was cast as Mary Jane Watson director Sam Raimi and his team had some odd requests.

Kirsten remembers that right from the start she was made aware of the fact that the film's lead, Tobey Maguire, was going to be making much more money than her. At the time though, she really didn't think too much of it. Looking at things now she isn't exactly overjoyed at the fact that she was ok with the massive pay disparity that existed in the film. She talked to The Independent recently about the pay gap saying,

“The pay disparity between me and Spider-Man was very extreme,” Dunst goes on to say “I didn’t even think about it. I was just like, ‘Oh yeah, Tobey [Maguire] is playing Spider-Man.’ But you know who was on the cover of the second ‘Spider-Man’ poster? Spider-Man and me.”

By the time the Spider-Man role came along Kirsten Dunst had already had a decent career appearing in films like Interview with a Vampire, Little Women, and Jumanji. That's one reason why the massive pay gap between her and Tobey didn't make a lot of sense. The producers on the film also wanted her to get her teeth fixed for the part. Something that Dunst declined to do. She recalls that she still got the part due to the fact that she was protected by famed director Sofia Coppola at the time. Also, she thinks that even if she could count on Coppola for helping her mom would've backed the decision in talking about straightening her teeth she mentions,

“Who knows? I mean, I have a really good mom, too, but my mom is someone who might have been like, ‘Yeah, why not have straight teeth?’”

If you are wondering, they did go back in the editing room and straighten Mary Jane Watson's teeth. That seems like a better way to deal with things than having to go through an extensive dental procedure.

Although she wasn't paid nearly as much as Toby McGuire for their respective roles in the first Spider-Man movie franchise Kirsten Dunst has left the door open on reprising her role as Mary Jane Watson. She did make it clear that she's not in this upcoming Spider-Man movie. Kirsten Dunst does seem to have a pretty good idea though on how she would like to return to the franchise, She's told Variety,

"I would never say no to something like that … I'd be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies."

Did she come up with this idea on her own, or is she literally reading part of the upcoming Spider-Man No Way Home script?
