More than a decade after her last solo single, fans are saying that actress and singer Lindsay Lohan has just announced her long-awaited return to music. 'I'm back!' the 33-year-old star most famous for her role in 'Mean Girls' posted on social media on Tuesday, along with a video that was later called 'cryptic' by media. The video was a compilation of clips from the ups and downs of her career and old music videos, all leading up to a final statement 'I’m back'.

Lohan also posted a link for fans to pre-save her single on a music streaming platform. She did not offer details of an album release date. It is yet to be confirmed if the new song will be included on a larger musical project, though Lohan has teased other songs on her social media accounts in recent months. Her return to the music scene comes three months after the 'Mean Girls' actress said she was planning to go back to the United States in 2020.

Since 2016, she has been busy developing a series of nightclubs and resorts in Greece. Though she hasn't had many major roles, she has not really left the acting scene. Most recently she played the role of Katerina West on popular series 'Sick Note', starring Harry Potter's Rupert Grint.

So far, Lohan has released two studio albums, the latest one being A Little More Personal in 2005, which followed her debut album Speak in 2004. Last summer, Lindsay dropped the EDM track, 'Xanax', with Miley Cyrus' collaborator Alma.

The song was released on Instagram but the song disappeared and never made it to Spotify. In May last year, Lindsay told fans she was getting ready to reboot her singing career, revealing she had been busy in the recording studio.

Although she is best known as an actress, her music is very popular. In 2008, she released the fan-favorite dance tune titled 'Bossy'.

While it may not be a comeback, Lohan's newest single 'Back To Me' can now be found on Apple Music.

In 2019, she starred in the MTV reality show 'Lohan Beach Club', which was about her efforts to launch a nightclub and restaurant business in Greece. She also appeared in a 2018 British television comedy crime series Sick Note.

The reaction of fans and media to this unexpected announcement has been mixed. "Sorry sis, we are in the middle of a global pandemic," tweeted user CaliRae. Other Twitter users wondered if Lohan was pulling an April Fool's Day stunt. Other said that while the timing may be unexpected, her return to music could not be more welcome.
