On Monday, Drake posted pictures of his 2-year-old son Adonis for the first time since the world discovered he was a father. In 2018, fans of the Toronto rapper found out he had a son through a rap feud carried on by rival rapper, Pusha-T.
In The Story of Adidon diss track, Pusha-T told the world the Scorpion artist had a son and that he’d been hiding him. Drake denied the allegations—and soon after—he spoke about his son on his Scorpion album.
The rapper later admitted that his reasons behind not announcing he was a father had nothing to do with him hiding his son. According to the Take Care artist, he wanted to be sure Adonis was in fact his before he shared the news with the world.
Prior to including him in his song, Emotionless, Drake admitted the reason he waited to announce was because he wanted to verify the paternity.
Three different DNA tests were conducted to ensure Drake was the father. Still like many other celebrities, he chose to shield his son from the public eye.
In the series of photographs, Drake shares with his fans some intimate peeks into his blonde hair and blue-eyed toddler. The first picture in the collage is of the rapper holding his 2-year-old son, while other photos include single pictures of Adonis, his parents, and a family picture including his son’s mother, Sophie Brussaux.
“I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite. Until then please keep your lights on,” the 33-year-old rapper wrote in the caption.
Up until now, Drake has been notoriously tight-lipped about his son, but now due to the global pandemic and social distancing advisories, it seems as if he’s ready to show him off to the world.
Immediately following his post, fans instantly took to the rapper’s post to comment about his once mysterious son.
While some complimented Adonis’ adorableness, other were shocked to see his features leaned more towards his Caucasian genes versus the African American ones. Drake, a bi-racial artist was born to a white mother and a black father; therefore, it should not have been a surprise that either genes could be dominant.
Fans across all social media platforms agreed that Drake’s son was a spitting image of his mother. On Twitter, one fan wrote, “He looks like Drake’s mom, wow.”
Another person added, “He is so cute. He has Drake’s features but looks like Drake’s mom for sure!” someone said of Adonis’ paternal grandmother.
Many other users chimed in with their opinions regarding who the adorable toddler favored. Science has proven it is not uncommon for children to resemble grandparents or their parent’s siblings.
For all we know Adonis’ could be his father’s twin in the next couple of years. But for now, he definitely looks like his grandmother.
