Many fans have been waiting to see the likes of Keanu Reeves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and this might just become a reality sooner than anyone expected.
Apparently, some very secret inside sources say that Marvel head, Kevin Feige, wants Reeves to play Johnny Blaze (Ghost Rider). Last time we saw that character was through the comedic flare of Nicholas Cage back in 2007.
Reeves’ debut would take place in Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
Marvel Studios isn’t the only huge company that wants to grab Reeves. Apparently, DC has also been in the bidding for the actor. DC wants Reeves to reprise his role as John Constantine in a new Constantine sequel. Following that, they would have Reeves star in Justice League Dark.
On the other side of the coin, Marvel has been trying to find a role for Reeves in one of their films for a while, but have yet to reach a finite role for him.
Reeves has been pretty busy these last few years. From playing the bad-ass John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, to playing a hilarious stuntman in Toy Story 4 last year, Reeves shows no signs of stopping.
His other projects also include the hugely anticipated continuation of The Matrix series in The Matrix 4, which was currently in production before being halted completely amid COVID-19 concerns. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that The Matrix 4 is better than The Matrix: Reloaded/Revolutions.
As much as we can see Reeves as the fiery bike rider, how did these rumors come to be? According to We Got This Covered, a source says that the studio wants to give Reeves his own standalone movie, but they want to give him an introduction in another film first.
This is where Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness comes in. What better way to introduce new characters than in a mind-bending adventure through different universes. Who knows what other films will stem from the Multiverse.
With all this being said, the same source also noted that Reeves was being looked at for a villain role in the same film. Potentially playing the main villain against Doctor Strange by the name of ‘Nightmare’.
The studio has also been eyeing David Tennant, and Matt Smith for the role along with Reeves. But at this point a lot of this is unclear right now, ‘Nightmare’ might not even be in the movie.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021.
