Monique Samuels was put on blast by Gizelle Bryant during the recently shared trailer for The Real Housewives of Potomac season five by suggesting that her physical altercation with Candiace Dillard-Basset had set back the entire black race and now, in a comment on her Instagram Stories, Samuels is fighting back against the insinuation.

On March 29, Urban Belle shared Samuels' statement with their readers, which came in response to a fan questioning the reality star about what she's learned from the trailer.

In the trailer for The Real Housewives of Potomac season five, Bryant was seen talking to Samuels with their co-star, Karen Huger, and saying, “We’ve been able to hold ourselves above the stereotype, and in five minutes, she took it away.”

In response to her co-star's statement, Samuels told the fan, "One thing I took away looking at the trailer, it’s almost like I just did the entire black race a disservice and proved a point about the black race. But we got all kinds of Housewives shows with all kinds of nationalities and everybody fights."

"Everybody gets into stuff that they probably regretted and wish they could have rewind time. At the end of the day, it’s not about race," Samuels continued.

According to the longtime reality star, her fight with Dillard-Bassett was simply an example of someone being human.

"It’s about being human. And then get to a point where you can control whatever emotions you need to control. Control your hands and also knowing what triggers you have. And unfortunately for me, that’s something I had to learn about myself," she admitted.

While the moment between Samuels and her co-star wasn't her proudest moment, she made it clear that it was a learning moment for her.

"It was good for me in the end because I did a lot of digging and found some things that I probably forgot about and I just didn’t think were significant and it allowed me to grow even more as a person,” she explained. “But we not going to say that Monique Samuels is the cause for people to think black people are bad.”

“I think if it were a situation where you have seven or eight housewives shows black, white, Hispanic and nobody ever had a moment where they got physical on none of them shows, and then all of a sudden here comes the black show and here she comes getting physical or whatever…that would have made more sense if that were the case,” Samuels added.
