Rapper Drake always remains pretty tight-lipped about his personal life, except of course, when he’s dropping pieces of information in his songs. Even since news came to light that Drake was the father of a son, Adonis, shared with Sophie Brussaux, fans were clamoring to get more information. Yet, Drake has remained secretive about his son since the beginning. Heck, nobody even knew the son existed until rapper Pusha T outed Drake during their public spat. But now, with Drake showing off pictures of his son on IG for the first time, fans have a lot of questions regarding the relationship with his baby momma.
This morning the world was graced with a few pictures of Drake’s 2-year-old son Adonis on the rapper’s Instagram account. But it wasn’t just his son that Drake showcased worldwide for the very first time, it was also the child’s mother, Sophie Brussaux, who Drake referenced as family. Drake shared a few photos of his son, as well as Sophie, and wrote a lengthy caption about finding your light and shifting your focus. He then added at the end, “I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite. Until then please keep your lights on.”
Family, eh? Sure, he could just be referencing the fact that the pair share a child together. But could there also be something else going on behind-the-scenes that the world doesn’t know? Truth be told, we do not know much about Sophie Brussaux, beyond just a few tidbits of information that Drake has shared over the years. Brussaux. who is 30 years old, was raised in France and once had a career in the adult film industry. Despite leaving adult films behind, Brussaux now focused on a career in art.
Drake has only opened up about Sophie a handful of times, once in an interview with LeBron James on the HBO show The Shop. Drake explained, “[I was] more scared to tell my mom because my mom has had real belief and real relationships with women in my life, like, over the course of my years. I’m sure she would expect or be elated if I were to have gotten one of those women pregnant… So it was tough for me to tell her that it’s somebody that she’s never met.”
Earlier in the month, Drake received some flack when fans noticed the rapper dissing Sophie on his new track “When to Say When.” The line from the song went, “baby mama fluke, but I love her for who she is.” Fans immediately took to social media to drag the rapper for what he said, especially about the mother of his child. Yet, it seems that maybe quarantine life has Drake appreciating his “family” in a different way than ever before.
