If Aurora, CO rings a bell, it’s probably because it was the home of the tragic mass movie theater shooting nearly one decade ago.
On July 20 2012, one man opened fire into the packed theater.
The tragedy took place at the Century 16 movie theater during a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
The shooter was identified as 24-year-old James Holmes. The mass murder purchased four guns prior to the massacre and more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition, according to Colorado police
He purchased a ticket to the midnight screening and was able to slip out and prop open an emergency exit door. He kept his loaded weapons here and 30 minutes into the screening he slipped out of the door, gathered his weapons, reentered and unloaded on the packed theater.
